Responsibilities:

Own the Smart System, including:

- HMI (display, controls, interaction concepts)

- Connectivity (IoT module, Vehicle-to-X, external devices)

- Peripheral integration (e.g. helmet, sensors, accessories)

- Define system scope and ensure alignment with overall product vision

Develop and drive the Smart System architecture to final definition, including:

- System states and transitions

- Use cases and functional behavior

- Service landscape and system interactions

- Ensure consistency across all smart features and components

Define HMI concepts in collaboration with design and digital teams

- Lead evaluation and selection of HMI solutions (off-the-shelf vs custom)

- Ensure usability, clarity, and consistency of user interaction

Define integration of:

- IoT module and connectivity solutions

- External devices (helmet, phone, sensors, etc.)

- Vehicle-to-X capabilities

- Ensure seamless interaction between bike, app, and external systems

Define system-level interfaces between:

- Smart System

- Drive System

- Digital Product & Software

- Align with Electrical and Wiring Engineer on physical implementation

Evaluate and select suppliers for HMI components, connectivity modules, and external integrations

- Define requirements and ensure supplier alignment

Work closely with cross-functional teams:

- Electrical & Wiring Engineer (architecture implementation)

- System Engineer – Drive Train (system interfaces)

- Digital Product & Software Engineer (behavior, app integration)

- Ensure all system components work together coherently

We are immediately looking for a System Engineer – Smart System 100 %

We are looking for a System Engineer – Smart System to define and own the logical system architecture and connected features of VIIALAs speedpedelec platform. This role is responsible for how all smart components interact — including HMI, connectivity, sensors, and external devices — ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. You will define system behavior at a functional level, translate use cases into system requirements, and ensure alignment between hardware, software, and digital components. This is not a software implementation role — it is about defining how the system works holistically from a functional and architectural perspective.
