About Fixel
Fixel is a digital studio specializing in helping B2B tech companies design, build, and maintain their websites. We focus on custom websites for startups and scale-ups in the cybersecurity and tech space. Our clients depend on us for ongoing design support, strategic guidance, and high-quality CMS development.
We’re a small, fully remote team that values delivering excellent work, collaborating openly, and maintaining good vibes.
The Role
We’re looking for a Web Developer to join our development team and take real ownership of both new builds and ongoing client work. This isn’t a maintenance-only role. You’ll take full projects from kickoff to launch, as well as maintain and enhance existing sites, add features, and handle technical support.
We’re also expanding what we build. Alongside WordPress and Statamic, we’re growing our capability in Webflow and Framer, and leaning into AI tools to work faster without sacrificing quality. We want someone excited to build with us as we move into new areas, not just execute what’s already well-defined.
You’ll work closely with our team, but you’ll also need to be comfortable owning projects and managing your workload independently.
What You’ll Be Doing
Owning full website builds from kickoff through launch
Maintaining and enhancing existing WordPress sites (adding blocks, pages, features, functionality)
Building custom WordPress blocks with ACF and the block editor, and knowing when to reach for core blocks or extend them instead of going custom
Modeling content properly with custom post types, taxonomies, and field structures that fit how each site actually works
Handling site migrations and technical troubleshooting
Plugin updates and compatibility testing
Developing responsive, accessible, and performant front-end code
Bringing sites to life with code-based animations and micro-interactions that add polish and delight without sacrificing performance
Using AI tools to speed up development without cutting corners on quality
Communicating with clients on project updates
Collaborating with designers, developers, and strategists to deliver great work
What You’ll Need
Required:
3-5+ years of professional WordPress development experience
Experience taking projects from initial build through launch, not just maintenance
Strong custom WordPress theme development skills (block-based themes, not page builders)
Expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and the WordPress block editor, plus good judgment about content architecture (custom post types, taxonomies, meta)
Experience with Tailwind, and comfort with AlpineJS for frontend interactivity
Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and performance optimization
Proven ability to step into existing projects and quickly adapt to different coding styles and architectural patterns
Hands-on experience with WordPress troubleshooting tools and methods (WP_DEBUG, Query Monitor, server logs, etc.)
Comfortable with Git and version control
Active use of AI tools (Claude, Copilot, or similar) in your development workflow
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Great attention to detail when building from Figma designs
Self-driven, adaptable, and genuinely curious about new tools and ways of working
Bonus points:
Webflow and/or Framer experience
Experience with animation libraries (GSAP, Framer Motion, or similar) and an eye for the small details that make a site feel crafted, not templated
Laravel and/or Statamic experience
Agency or client services background
Experience working with B2B tech companies
Familiarity with WordPress VIP or enterprise WordPress environments
Work Environment
Fully remote position
2-3 hours overlap with Central Time (US)
Collaborative team environment using Slack, ClickUp, and Figma
Opportunity to grow into more senior development roles as the team expands
Work with a small, friendly team that values quality and supports each other
Why Fixel?
Own real projects start to finish, not just tickets
Work on exciting projects with growing B2B tech startups
Join a team that holds itself to a high standard (“Fixel perfect” work)
Be part of expanding what we build, into Webflow, Framer, and AI-driven workflows
Collaborative, supportive culture with experienced developers
Consistent, steady work with quality clients
Fully remote with flexibility
Real opportunity for professional growth as we grow
