About BSQ Accounting

At BSQ Accounting, we help the founders of new UK limited companies stay on top of their accounts and compliance from day one.

We're the fixed-fee accountancy practice within BSQ Group, working alongside our sister company 1st Formations, one of the UK's leading company formation providers. Our clients join us at the very start of their journey, and we look after their bookkeeping, statutory accounts, tax, VAT and payroll so they can focus on building their business.

Running a business shouldn't be slowed down by statutory compliance, accounting or payroll. Together with 1st Formations, we bring formation, compliance, accounting, payroll and ongoing business support into one integrated platform.

No stitched-together services.

No legacy workflows disguised as software.

Just a single, scalable platform built for ambitious founders who want to move fast, stay compliant, and grow with confidence.

Why Join Us Now?

You'll be joining a business with strong momentum, clear direction, and real opportunity for progression.

£18m annual revenue, including £9m ARR

Over 1 million companies formed

Certified B Corp and Carbon Neutral Business

Forecast to grow 5x to 10x over the next three years

The Role

We're looking for a qualified Accountant to join BSQ Accounting, reporting to our Accounting Manager. Because we serve a large and growing base of newly incorporated limited companies on fixed fees, this is a high-volume role. You'll be one of the team's technical reviewers, checking and signing off compliance work prepared by team members, including our offshore production team, and managing your own workload independently against statutory deadlines.

You'll come from an accountancy practice and be comfortable working across a large client base at pace, prioritising by deadline and risk, and keeping a commercial eye on the time spent against a fixed fee. Your expertise will help shape how we deliver accountancy services as we scale, with real scope to progress as the team grows.

Key Responsibilities

Review and sign off work prepared by team members before submission, including PAYE and VAT registrations, payroll and RTI submissions, VAT returns and CIS returns

Review year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, together with the related corporation tax returns

Review Self Assessment tax returns for company directors

Prepare more complex or non-standard accounts and returns yourself where needed

Manage your own review queue independently, prioritising by statutory deadline and risk across a high volume of clients

Give clear, constructive feedback to preparers, helping to raise first-time quality across the team

Review bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero, making sure client records are accurate, complete and up to date

Handle technical client queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Accounting Manager

Spot work that falls outside a client's fixed-fee plan and flag it so it can be scoped and billed

Support clients with their Making Tax Digital requirements

Help develop internal guidance, review checklists and templates to support consistent, high-quality delivery

Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and client education

What We Are Looking For

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with some post-qualification experience

Practice background, with solid experience of compliance work for small and owner-managed limited companies

Experience of reviewing other people's work, or ready to step up into a reviewing role

Strong technical knowledge of FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, with a sound working knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, CIS and personal tax as they apply to small businesses

Comfortable working with high client volumes, able to prioritise competing deadlines and manage your own workload without close supervision

Commercially aware, with an understanding of how a fixed-fee practice works and why efficiency matters

Strong hands-on experience with Xero; experience of a practice management system such as Karbon is an advantage

A clear communicator, able to explain financial matters to non-specialist business owners and give constructive feedback to colleagues

A collaborative mindset, comfortable working within a growing team

What We Offer

£50,000 to £60,000 and a comprehensive benefits package

Hybrid working model

Real opportunities for progression as the business scales

The chance to influence both customer experience and product development

A culture that values ownership, impact, and continuous learning
