What the posting says

[OUR MISSION AND CUSTOMERS] We are creating the freedom for SMEs to succeed by delivering Europe's leading finance workspace with banking at its core, augmented by financial tools. We are proud to be rated 4.7 on Trustpilot, based on 60,000 reviews. Our culture puts customer satisfaction at the core of what we do (more about our culture here).

[OUR JOURNEY] Founded in 2016 and launched in 2017 by Alexandre and Steve, Qonto has grown to 1,700 Qontoers serving over 750,000 customers across 8 European countries. We have been profitable since 2023, and we are just getting started.

[OUR BELIEFS] We hire for skills and potential. With 80+ nationalities, 45% women, of which 56% of women in our leadership team, diversity isn't a program; It's who we are. We've built a discrimination-free hiring process because the best teams are built on merit.

[AI AT QONTO] AI is deeply embedded in how we work (here) - Every Qontoer gets unlimited access to the best AI tools. We want people who experiment without waiting for permission, push AI beyond the obvious, know when to trust it, and when to question it.

Join us as AML Analyst in Milan to protect our 600,000 customers from financial crime and shield Qonto from reputational risk, as we prepare Italy’s market relaunch. You will run first-level AML detection: processing alerts, analyzing transactions, and keeping our compliance rate at 95%.

You will report to be Alessandro, our Head of AML Global.

➡️ What you’ll do

Alert handling: Analyze transactions and supporting documents (invoices, contracts, bank statements) to spot patterns linked to money laundering and terrorism financing, with a 95% compliance rate target.

Customer and counterpart contact: Reach out to customers and counterparts to get the information you need and validate SEPA transfers.

Legal requests: Work with local authorities when we receive legal requests and criminal seizures.

Cross-team support: Step in when Onboarding, Customer Service or Banking Operations raise a suspicion about a customer.

Escalation: Pass your findings to the Anti-Financial Crime team, who handle case declarations to the competent authorities.

➡️ What we’re looking for

AML/CFT transaction monitoring: You have proven experience reviewing and investigating client transaction patterns and detecting suspicious activity. Experience monitoring transactions for corporate clients is a strong plus.

Pattern recognition: You are detail-oriented and evidence-driven, and you have the patience to follow an investigation through to a documented conclusion.

Prioritization: You can juggle several urgent alerts, manage your time, and flag risks early without lowering the quality of your analysis.

Italian and English: You write and speak both clearly, and you can explain a complex case simply to colleagues from other teams.

Openness to feedback: You learn fast, take feedback well, and bring ideas to improve how the team works. This position is based in Milan.

➡️ What we can offer you

A 7-person team across three cities: Four colleagues in Milan, one in Barcelona and two in Paris. Improvements come from the team, not from top-down instructions.

A clear performance framework: One KPI (95% compliance rate), with about 60% of your time on alert handling and 40% on meetings, projects and team collaboration.

Real tools, named: Forest for back-office operations, Metabase dashboards for pattern detection, SEON for fraud detection, plus Zendesk, Slack and Notion.

Italy’s relaunch: You join while Qonto prepares its relaunch in the Italian market, serving fast-growing companies and recent technologies.

➡️ Your future manager

Your manager will be Alessandro, our Head of AML Global.

His path? Alessandro began in forensic consulting at Deloitte, then moved into AML roles at Young Platform and Banca Sella before joining Qonto in January 2025 to lead the Italian AML team.

What does he bring to the team? Alessandro believes everyone can have an impact on solving the team’s challenges. He encourages initiatives from the team and makes sure everyone has the support and autonomy to improve themselves, the systems and the processes.

[DIVERSITY] At Qonto, we understand that true diversity isn’t just about ticking boxes on a hiring checklist. Apply regardless of the boxes you tick - who knows? You may have the missing piece of the puzzle we’ve been searching for all along.

[HIRING PROCESS DURATION] On average, our hiring process lasts 20 working days. More information on our candidate journey here

[DATA RETENTION] By applying, you agree that Qonto processes your personal data to assess your application. Your data is kept for up to 2 years in our candidate pool. Read our Privacy Notice for full details.
