Backend Engineer

Interview Copilot AI builds a privacy-first desktop assistant that helps candidates perform at their best in live job interviews. The product turns live conversation context into fast, structured, résumé-aware guidance while keeping reliability and privacy at the core.

What you’ll own

You will own backend services that support real-time product experiences, from APIs and data models to integrations, observability, and dependable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain APIs using Cloudflare Workers and TypeScript.

• Model and evolve product data in PostgreSQL.

• Improve real-time and streaming systems for transcription, question detection, and answer delivery.

• Build reliable integrations with AI, speech, and other external providers.

• Strengthen testing, observability, security, performance, and failure recovery.

• Diagnose production issues and make pragmatic architecture decisions as the product evolves.

Required skills

• Experience shipping and operating production backend systems.

• Strong API design and general software-engineering fundamentals.

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

• Practical understanding of reliability, testing, and observability.

• Clear written communication and comfort owning work independently.

Nice to have

• Cloudflare Workers or another serverless platform.

• WebSockets, event-driven systems, or real-time streaming.

• Third-party integrations with fallback and retry strategies.

• Speech, transcription, or LLM-powered products.
