What the posting says

About the Role

This is a core backend engineering position at a fintech company building global trust infrastructure — turning complex, months-long compliance and business identity workflows into near-instant experiences. You'll sit at the heart of a senior, talent-dense engineering team, designing the systems and APIs that power a high-trust, regulated environment.

What You'll Do

Design and build clean, testable, and efficient backend systems and APIs.

Architect scalable infrastructure capable of handling high-trust and high-volume requirements.

Champion testing, quality, and long-term maintainability across every project.

Tackle complex product challenges by thinking deeply about user needs and system behavior.

Shape engineering practices and technical culture through active collaboration and leadership.

What We're Looking For

5–7+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments; most of the team is at 7+ years.

Proficiency in at least one backend language — Node.js/TypeScript is the team's primary stack; Python, Go, or Java also considered.

Experience designing scalable APIs and distributed backend services.

Hands-on experience with relational databases (Postgres or MySQL) in production.

Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architectures (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar).

Experience deploying and managing containerised or cloud-based applications (Kubernetes, AWS, or equivalent).

Background building in regulated or high-trust domains such as fintech, payments, or identity.

Strong systems thinking — able to reason about long-term architectural implications, not just individual features.

Clear communicator who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys deep collaboration.

Nice to have: experience with Event Sourcing, Express, or working in early-stage environments where technical culture is actively shaped.

European timezone availability is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: €116,000 – €146,000, determined by level with no individual negotiation — everyone at the same level earns the same. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Fully remote, open to candidates across European timezones. The team meets in person approximately every six weeks for a company-wide offsite.
