We're currently hiring for a Backend Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs that power our core products. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to define problems clearly, and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The engineer will collaborate closely with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure systems.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will do the following:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
Implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions using MySQL and Sequelize ORM.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define scope, and deliver solutions.
Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with DevOps and support teams.
Ensure high code quality through automated testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD best practices.
Contribute to technical documentation for APIs, services, and data models.
Participate in architectural discussions and propose improvements.
Requirements
Required:
Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
Solid understanding of REST API design principles and best practices.
Proficiency with MySQL and ORM frameworks (preferably Sequelize).
Experience with asynchronous programming, error handling, and performance optimization in Node.js.
Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad).
Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, or similar).
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with PHP/Laravel (for interaction with our legacy platform).
Understanding of security best practices for backend services.
Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress).
Exposure to distributed or microservices-based architectures.
