What the posting says

About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

Location Requirement

Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.

About the role

The AV BI Adjuster investigates, evaluates, and resolves bodily injury claims from incidents involving autonomous and driver-assist vehicles, including passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and occupants of other vehicles. The role combines traditional BI evaluation with analysis of who was in control, what the system did, and whether the claim should be resolved or defended.

What you'll do

Investigate and evaluate BI claims, building liability analysis on vehicle data, video, and remote-assistance records rather than statements alone

Contact claimants, witnesses, medical providers, and counsel promptly, documenting injuries, treatment, and damages

Set and maintain reserves that reflect liability, damages, venue, and representation

Negotiate and settle claims within authority, and recommend and document settlement strategy above it

Identify claims with litigation, product-liability, or regulatory risk and escalate early to the Litigation Adjuster and Team Lead, partnering with the AV operator’s safety and legal teams on sensitive or high-visibility incidents

Manage medical bills, liens, Medicare/Medicaid reporting, and settlement documentation, and maintain complete, audit-ready file notes explaining the liability and valuation decision

Who you are

Motivated and growth-oriented, excited by the prospect of building a tech-driven claims org

Passionate adjuster who cares about the customer experience and brings empathy and patience to everyone you interact with

Sense of urgency at all times (without working at all hours), paired with curiosity to learn the whole story so you can make the right decisions early and reach a prompt resolution

Creative problem-solver who finds the right exit ramp for resolving each claim in the insured’s best interest, and who isn’t afraid of conflict as long as it stays conversational rather than adversarial

Anti-status quo, acting on ideas for doing things differently, with strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-player attitude

Sense of humor, because claims are hard enough as it is, plus a detailed understanding of the SAE J3016 levels of driving automation (Levels 0–5), including how driver-assist (Levels 0–2) and driverless (Levels 3–5) systems shift responsibility among the human, the system, and the operator

Qualifications

4–6+ years of bodily injury claims experience, preferably commercial auto, rideshare, or trucking

Strong medical-records review and injury valuation skills

Experience with represented claimants and attorney negotiation

Bachelor's degree or equivalent claims experience

Proficiency in the claims system, document management, and Microsoft Office

Clear written and verbal communication with claimants, counsel, carriers, and client partners

Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license. Willing to obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing.

Benefits

Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental

401(k) retirement plan with employer matching

Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!

Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work

100% remote (home-based) role designed to support your work-life balance

Additionally, we will

Listen to your feedback to enhance and improve upon the long-standing challenges of an adjuster and the claims role

Work toward reducing and eliminating all the administrative work from an adjuster role

Foster a culture of empathy, transparency, and empowerment in a remote-first environment

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
