Commercial Counsel
The Position:
As Commercial Counsel – Inverter and Battery, you will primarily support contract review and handle commercial disputes and negotiation for the inverter and battery sales teams of Sungrow USA. Additionally, you will provide support for various corporate and compliance legal matters. The successful candidate will have substantial contract negotiation experience in the solar sector and report to theDirector of Risk Control, Commercial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of contracts including solar inverter and storage sales agreements, service agreements, and warranties.
Advise Sungrow USA concerning claims and disputes with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other business partners.
Advising internal client regarding compliance with applicable regulations, laws and policies and identifying legal and business risks.
Support communications with outside counsels and customers.
Assist with various corporate and governance matters.
Manage outside legal counsel.
Minimum Requirements:
A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, strong academic background, and admitted to a US state bar in good standing; appropriate license to practice law
8+ years of experience providing legal counsel on commercial contracts in a solar energy company or law firm
Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and assist in the negotiation of solar inverter and battery supply agreements.
Familiarity with energy project agreements.
Experience in corporate governance, employment law, real estate and other corporate law matters is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with both internal and outside parties, including customers and outside counsel.
Self-reliant and able to manage competing deadlines
Collaborative, positive, business-friendly and service-minded
Excellent negotiating skills, keen analytical abilities, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, as well as a track record of success in handling complex business and legal issues.
Must have OEM experience with solar inverters or batteries.
Travel
Up to 10%
Work Location and Status:
Full time, remote USA; Costa Mesa/Irvine CA, Denver, CO or Houston, TX preferred
