About the team

At Nubank, Compliance is a strategic partner—not a tollgate. We view effective Risk Management & Compliance as the engine that maintains agility and empowers rapid, responsible growth across multiple global markets. Our team partners directly with internal clients using a targeted friction approach: we focus on the most relevant regulatory risks and embed compliance directly into product design rather than distributing rules after the fact.

The Global Compliance function serves as the Second Line of Defense, responsible for the full regulatory lifecycle: tracking new regulations, advising product and technology teams, testing controls, coordinating regulatory inspections, and monitoring remediation of regulatory issues.

This role is positioned at a pivotal moment. Nubank has received conditional approval for a US National Bank Charter. Reporting to the Head of US Compliance, this individual contributor will independently assess complex regulatory questions, influence product and operational decisions, and lead compliance reviews from planning through reporting and remediation validation. The role also contributes to policy development, compliance risk reporting, and advice on regulatory issues.

Success requires strong regulatory judgment, practical experience evaluating controls, and the ability to turn complex requirements and findings into clear, actionable recommendations. You should be comfortable establishing processes, managing competing priorities, and driving work to completion in an evolving business. The role requires someone who can build from scratch, own outcomes, and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset in a highly regulated environment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced consumer compliance professional to lead product compliance advisory engagements and internal compliance testing and monitoring across Nu’s US consumer banking products, including deposits, credit cards, and personal loans.

Reporting to the US Head of Compliance, this manager-level individual contributor will independently assess complex regulatory questions, influence product and operational decisions, and lead compliance reviews from planning through reporting and remediation validation. The role also contributes to policy development, compliance risk reporting, and advice on regulatory issues.

What you will do

Product Compliance Advisory

Serve as a primary compliance advisor to Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and other business teams throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design and launch through servicing.

Independently interpret applicable federal and state consumer financial protection requirements and translate them into practical product requirements, controls, and business guidance.

Review proposed products, features, customer journeys, disclosures, marketing materials, and operational processes to identify compliance risks and recommend workable solutions.

Assess the compliance implications of product and process changes, documenting advice, material risks, and matters requiring escalation.

Provide effective challenge to business decisions and control designs, working with stakeholders to resolve concerns and escalating material or unresolved risks.

Evaluate relevant regulatory developments and enforcement trends and advise business partners on necessary changes.

Compliance Testing & Monitoring

Develop and execute risk-based compliance testing and monitoring coverage, prioritizing products, processes, and controls based on regulatory obligations, customer impact, and emerging risks.

Lead reviews from scoping through completion, including defining objectives, developing test procedures, selecting samples, evaluating evidence, and documenting conclusions.

Assess whether controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively, including whether customer outcomes and business practices meet applicable requirements.

Produce clear, well-supported findings and reports that explain the regulatory concern, supporting evidence, customer impact, and recommended corrective action.

Establish and maintain monitoring indicators that help identify compliance weaknesses, recurring exceptions, and changes in risk.

Evaluate remediation plans, track corrective actions, and validate that completed remediation addresses identified issues.

Policy, Risk Reporting & Issue Advisory

Draft and update consumer compliance policies and standards, and advise business owners on related procedures.

Contribute to compliance risk assessments and management reporting, communicating significant findings, trends, and unresolved exposures.

Advise on issue assessment, root cause analysis, customer impact, and corrective action, with business owners accountable for implementing remediation.

What we are looking for

Demonstrated ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements, exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and develop defensible recommendations.

Hands-on experience designing and executing compliance reviews, evaluating controls, documenting findings, and validating remediation.

Ability to analyze operational and customer data to identify exceptions, assess customer impact, and support conclusions.

Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex requirements and influence decisions across technical, business, and leadership audiences.

Proven ability to independently own significant workstreams, establish priorities, and escalate issues appropriately.
