What the posting says

About Suno

We're building the world's first creative entertainment platform, where the entire world can feel the joy and fulfillment of making music. Music is for everyone: Our users include everyone from grandmothers creating songs for their loved ones, to Grammy winners using Suno Studio, our power tool, to make the most popular hits in the world.

Building the future of entertainment requires ambition. The pace is fast, the problems are hard, and the work demands ownership and intensity. For the right people, it’s incredibly rewarding: a chance to shape a new medium, work with a small team that cares deeply about quality, make music, drink too much coffee, and build something that millions of people use to express themselves in ways that were never before possible.

Suno is the fastest growing consumer entertainment company and the leader in AI music. We are backed by leading investors including Bond Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, IVP, Forerunner, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon, Quiet, Matrix Partners, Schroders Capital and, NVentures (venture arm of NVIDIA).

About the Role

The Director of Editorial role at Suno is a leadership position that will help establish the framework and POV of editorial at Suno. We are growing a generational company

The ideal candidate is someone who…

Lives and breathes a diverse range of music

Attends live shows regularly

Has deep relationships across labels, artists, managers, and the broader music ecosystem

Is A trusted taste-maker whose recommendations people seek out — friends, colleagues, and industry contacts alike

Is fluent in how music moves online: platforms, subcultures, meme-to-mainstream pipelines, and how virality and quality intersect

Is comfortable being both a strategist and a doer — equally at ease setting editorial vision and personally selecting tracks for a playlist

What You’ll Do

Set the editorial vision for how music is discovered and celebrated within Suno, including in-app playlist curation, artist spotlights, and genre, style and mood taxonomy

Oversee the development and maintenance of Suno's curation frameworks — ensuring the platform's musical taxonomy reflects both the breadth of Suno's community and the evolving landscape of AI-generated music

Champion artist spotlights and features as a meaningful touchpoint for community recognition and platform storytelling

Ensure editorial decisions are informed by data, community feedback, and cultural context, balancing algorithmic signals with human taste

Help build and lead the editorial team, including hiring, mentoring, and setting the standards for how curators evaluate and select music

Work collaboratively with and earn the trust of the current members of the team, rather than disrupting the ecosystem on Day 1

Partner with Product and Engineering to define how editorial signals (human curation) and algorithmic recommendation systems work together, rather than in competition

Develop a POV on how music made with Suno should be evaluated editorially — what "quality" and "originality" mean in this context, and how that differs from (or resembles) traditional A&R judgment

Manage editorial balance between music made with Suno and music licensed for Suno

Drive editorial not only from the lens of discovery but also engagement/remixing

Represent Suno's editorial voice externally — in artist and label conversations, press, and partnerships — as a credible authority on music discovery

Define and track success metrics for editorial programs (engagement, retention, artist satisfaction) and report on program impact to leadership

What You’ll Need

10+ years of experience in A&R, editorial, or a related field within the music industry

A genuine point of view on music curation, discovery, and what makes an editorial program feel authentic and culturally resonant

Strong operational instincts with experience building and improving processes across marketing or editorial workflows

AI fluency, or at the very least curiosity and fair review of music made with AI-assistance

Familiarity with metadata and taxonomy systems

Excellent communicator: able to represent Suno credibly with senior artist teams and external partners, and communicate clearly and directly internally

Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the pace and possibility of a high-growth environment

Passion for music and sincere belief in technology's potential to expand creative access and expression

A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality as we grow rapidly and are building a generational company

A passion for music, culture, and creativity, with a finger on the pulse of industry trends.

Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams (marketing, brand, creative, growth, engineering) that are growing rapidly

Preferred

Experience at a streaming, publication, or AI company

Familiarity with music taxonomy, metadata, or editorial curation systems

Experience working within or alongside product and engineering teams
