Role Overview
WeVote has an open volunteering position for a Director of Paid Advertising to help strengthen American Democracy. You are an experienced marketing leader (7+ years) with a track record of building and scaling paid media programs across platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube. You know how to set strategy, manage lean budgets, and work with other facets of the organization. You want to work with an excellent team that is driven and nationally recognized. This position is for 2+ hours per week.
What You'll Do
Own the overall paid advertising strategy for nonpartisan voter education and GOTV campaigns with a focus on Google Ads, aligned to election timelines and priority geographies
Set budget allocation, channel mix, and performance targets; forecast reach and impact against WeVote's mission goals
Provide direction and mentorship to paid media volunteers (e.g., campaign managers and analysts), reviewing campaign structure, pacing, bids, audiences, and creative strategy
Establish measurement standards in partnership with analytics: tracking frameworks (UTMs, pixels/tags, conversion events), attribution, and reporting that reconciles with platform and GA4 data
Define a testing roadmap (audiences, creative, landing flows), synthesize learnings across campaigns, and codify what works into scalable playbooks
Own brand safety and compliance with platform political ad policies and WeVote's nonpartisan 501(c)(3) guidelines, including required verifications and disclaimers
What We're Looking For
7+ years of experience managing paid digital campaigns, including experience owning strategy and budgets at scale
Deep proficiency with Google Ads, including YouTube ads, including the ability to own strategy, campaign setup, execution and measurement (with the help of other specialists in the org)
Some familiarity with Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, and Reddit Ads is preferred
Strong command of GA4, UTM standards, and pixels/tags; able to set measurement strategy and guide analytics troubleshooting
Experience leading or mentoring marketers and coordinating cross-functional work
Strategic and detail-oriented, with the judgment to prioritize across multiple concurrent campaigns
Meticulous about compliance, privacy, and brand safety; experience with political or cause-related advertising is a strong plus
2+ hours per week during our core team hours M–F 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
You are currently located in the US and can work one or two hours that overlap with US Pacific Time per week
How to Apply
Submit your resume (at ) and include a brief note/cover letter as to why you are interested in WeVote and helping our mission.
