The Challenge:
We're looking for an Engineering Director to lead our Patient Health Companion organization, a key initiative helping Doctolib become a daily health companion for 90M people across Europe, enabling everyone to manage their health and wellbeing proactively. You'll oversee 4 engineering teams and their managers, including our flagship Health Companion for Parents of young children, built within the Doctolib app, which helps parents manage their children's appointments, documents, and health journey together.
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, Health Companion, you'll work closely with Medical Excellence (MedEx), Product, Design, and healthcare professionals. You'll join a high-density organization that Doctolib continues to build, bringing together experienced talent across engineering, product, design, and medical expertise.
Your teams will work across:
An excellent experience for our AI-powered chat, combining medical expertise with artificial intelligence and built around high standards of medical accuracy and safety
Personalized recommendation systems that deliver relevant health content, guidance, and next steps
Engaging mobile experiences that make health management intuitive and accessible, including the native mobile foundations described in Rebuilding the Doctolib homepage from WebView to native
Growth strategies to extend these services across Europe and reach more people through the Doctolib Health Companion
Your Impact:
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization of +25 talents, supporting engineering managers and staff engineers across multiple technical domains
Drive the technical vision and strategy for our Patient Health Companions, ensuring alignment with Doctolib's broader mission, business, and product goals
Lead the development of new healthcare experiences including AI-powered chat support, personalized recommendation systems, and intuitive mobile interfaces
Establish engineering practices and architecture that enable rapid experimentation while maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and scalability (our platform currently supports 18M documents shared per month and has enabled 40M teleconsultations since launch)
Partner with Product, Design, Medical Excellence, and healthcare professionals to ensure our solutions address real health needs while delivering excellent user experiences
Define and execute acquisition and growth strategies to expand our health companions across Europe
Shape the future of healthcare technology by building solutions that make healthcare more accessible, personalized, and effective
Your Profile
You're a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams. You combine technical excellence with strategic vision and have a passion for creating technology that transforms lives.
Core qualifications:
Leadership excellence: 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers and staff engineers across diverse technical domains
Team building: Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent
Technical depth: Strong foundation in software engineering, distributed systems, and architecture, with the ability to guide technical decisions across mobile and backend systems
Strategic vision: Ability to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and align engineering efforts with company strategy
Healthcare passion: Genuine interest in healthcare innovation and improving patient outcomes through technology
Growth mindset: Track record of scaling engineering organizations while maintaining culture and quality
User-centricity: Deep empathy for users and commitment to building products that address their needs
Bonus points for:
Experience building consumer health products or working in healthcare technology
Background in AI/ML systems, recommendation engines, or content platforms
Track record of launching and growing successful mobile applications
Experience working with medical professionals or in regulated environments
