What the posting says

Location: Remote, field based, covering the South East of England and London South (BH, RH, TN, CR, KT, TW, SP, PO, GU, BN, SO)

Team description

The South East and London South 1 hub stretches from the London commuter belt through Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire to the coastal cities of Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth, home to thousands of independent retailers, hospitality venues and service businesses that rely on SumUp's card readers, point of sale systems and software to run their day to day operations. As Field Sales Territory Manager, you'll take ownership of a team of 16 to 20 self employed sales consultants and turn a fast growing patch of SMEs into one of the strongest performing regions in SumUp's UK field sales business. It's a hands on leadership role for someone who wants real influence over how the territory grows, how the team performs, and how small businesses across the South East experience SumUp.

What you'll do

Lead and support a team of around 16 to 20 self employed field sales consultants, setting clear direction and holding regular check ins to track performance against weekly targets.

Recruit, onboard and coach new consultants, joining merchant visits to help them build confidence and close deals on SumUp's card readers, point of sale and software products.

Monitor key sales metrics such as quota attainment, customer acquisition cost and retention, adjusting activity and incentives across the territory to keep the team on pace with the regional business plan.

Review the margins on deals and rates offered, so sales growth doesn't come at the cost of profitability.

Share progress, challenges and ideas with the Head of Field Sales and wider stakeholders, feeding insight back into the regional business plan.

Build a positive, high performing culture across a geographically spread team, in line with SumUp's values.

You'll be great for this role if

Track record of managing a field based or remote sales team, ideally within merchant services, payments or point of sale.

Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, motivate and hold a dispersed team accountable to targets.

Comfort working with self employed or commission based sales structures, balancing autonomy with clear performance management.

Confident communicator, able to translate business goals into practical direction for the team and clear updates for stakeholders.

Resilient and adaptable, with a practical, data informed approach to solving problems and adjusting plans when market conditions shift.
