About the role
Due to increased demand for localized content, Pixelogic is looking for experienced freelance linguists for potential Chinese-to-English subtitling projects across a variety of Chinese-language content, to establish a professional, high-performing collaboration as part of our language services department with the end goal of servicing our clients’ end-to-end projects.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess a flexible attitude, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. In addition, they must be able to work as part of a team that deals with changing priorities and workloads.
Due to the sensitive nature of the delivery schedule, time flexibility is of paramount importance.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of subtitle file creation, depending on assignment, whether Conforming, Translating or Proofreading/QC’ing of subtitle files using Pixelogic and/or client's proprietary cloud based subtitling software
Leverage in-house glossary tool for consistency across products as well as follow client style guide specifications
Handle rejections/make corrections in files
Remain current with industry trends, and adapt to evolving client requirements
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive content.
Requirements:
Native or near-native English proficiency
Advanced or native proficiency in Chinese
Minimum of 2 years of professional Chinese-to-English subtitling translation and/or proofreading/QC experience
Professional experience with film, television, streaming, or other audiovisual content
Excellent English writing skills, with strong attention to accuracy, grammar, punctuation, tone, and natural phrasing
Ability to accurately understand and translate Chinese-language audiovisual content into natural English subtitles
Ability to follow client-specific style guides and technical specifications
Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines and accommodate short turnaround times
Ability to work with cloud-based subtitling tools and platforms
