About the role

The specific level and technical emphasis will vary by opportunity. Some teams may prioritize backend depth, data-intensive applications, enterprise workflows, observability, experimentation, or AI-powered product experiences.

As a Full Stack Engineer at LaunchDarkly, you will build customer-facing product experiences and the backend systems that support them. You will work across the application boundary from intuitive, accessible interfaces to reliable services, APIs, and data flows and help shape how customers understand, configure, and control software delivery.

This is an opportunity to work on products where engineering judgment is visible. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other engineering teams to make complex capabilities feel clear and useful, while ensuring that the underlying systems are scalable, secure, and dependable.

What you’ll do

Build and ship end-to-end product capabilities across frontend and backend systems.

Develop user experiences using technologies such as TypeScript and React, along with services and APIs using technologies such as Go, Python, or comparable tools.

Translate customer problems and product goals into thoughtful technical designs and incremental delivery plans.

Own features from discovery and design through implementation, launch, measurement, and iteration.

Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and engineering partners to make decisions that balance usability, performance, reliability, and time to value.

Write readable, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to shared engineering practices.

Improve observability, operational health, and the quality of the systems you touch.

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience building and operating production software in a professional environment, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Experience contributing across both frontend and backend layers, with a willingness to work at the API boundary rather than in only one part of the stack.

Experience with a backend language such as Go, Python, Rust, or an equivalent language. (Most of our teams use Go)

Experience with a modern frontend framework, such as React, and a typed language, such as TypeScript.

Experience designing or consuming APIs and working with backend services, data stores, or asynchronous systems.

Strong product instincts and an ability to connect technical decisions to customer outcomes.

Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with engineers and cross-functional partners.

A commitment to quality, accessibility, maintainability, and continuous learning.

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 3:

Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle - $171,200 - $235,400**

Zone 2: Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago - $154,100 - $211,860**

Zone 3: All other US locations - $145,500 - $200,090**

LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

*Within the United States, our geographic pay zones are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
