Group Financial Controller

Team: Finance, Reporting & Controlling | Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (office first)

Team description

The Group Reporting and Controlling team is the backbone of SumUp's financial integrity, and as the business scales, its role in strengthening governance and reporting standards is becoming more critical than ever. This position gives an experienced controller real ownership over a portfolio of legal entities, direct influence on how SumUp standardises controls and reporting across regions, and a front row seat to the audit and governance work that comes with holding ourselves to the highest financial standards. It's a chance to shape how a fast growing fintech gets its financial house in order, working closely with the Head of Controlling and coordinating directly with external auditors at PwC.

Take a look inside our Sofia office.

What you'll do

Own statutory audits and reporting compliance for a set of legal entities, including regular financial and balance sheet health checks

Review accounting entries and reconciliations critically, with a focus on accuracy in high impact areas

Lead month end closing activities in complex, high judgement areas such as transfer pricing and chargebacks

Manage the annual closing process for designated entities and financial areas

Coordinate directly with our external auditors and other stakeholders on audit and technical matters

Prepare ad hoc reports on legal entity performance and jurisdictional requirements

You'll be great for this role if

Strong knowledge of financial reporting principles under IFRS and GAAP underpins the way you approach controlling work.

Experience owning a legal entity end to end, from balance sheet reviews to statutory compliance, comes naturally.

Comfort working with stakeholders across tax, accounting, FP&A, and audit teams to resolve complex issues.

Ability to break down ambiguous problems, spot the real blockers, and drive them to resolution.

A qualified accounting background (ACCA or CIMA are a big plus).
