About the Role
The Network Engineer will join the Connectivity Engineering team within Nubank's Foundation Business Unit, supporting core connectivity platforms in Mexico and across Latin America. Connectivity Engineering designs, builds and operates the network backbone that keeps Nubank's products securely available to customers worldwide.
In this role, you will operate with meaningful autonomy on well-defined connectivity work — data center, WAN, and cloud edge — partnering with senior engineers on the team's most complex initiatives. You will also contribute to our ongoing shift toward an automation-, observability- and governance-first connectivity stack.
You'll be responsible for
Implement and troubleshoot network solutions across data center, WAN, and cloud edge environments, partnering with senior engineers on the team's most complex initiatives.
Own Low-Level Design (LLD) for your initiatives and contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) discussions for broader connectivity efforts.
Build and operate data center and WAN connectivity components, including day-to-day support for VXLAN/EVPN fabrics.
Own production support for assigned scope: incident troubleshooting, change execution, and root cause analysis, including a weekly on-call rotation.
Monitor and tune network observability tooling (Prometheus & Grafana), identifying performance issues and proposing improvements.
Perform vulnerability management on network and security devices, following established remediation and compliance processes.
Maintain accurate network inventory in NetBox, keeping documentation and topology data up to date.
Contribute to automation initiatives (scripting, IaC) that reduce manual toil, with support from senior engineers on more complex automation.
Collaborate with Cloud, Security, and Product teams, and contribute to documentation and operational standards.
We are looking for a person who has
Must-have
Routing & switching fundamentals: independent, hands-on experience with BGP and OSPF, plus core Layer 2 (VLANs, STP, LACP, port security).
Network security fundamentals: hands-on experience with ACLs, NAT, and VPN (IPSec-based), plus working experience with at least one Next-Gen Firewall platform (Palo Alto or Fortinet).
Production operations: independent troubleshooting and change execution in a production network environment, including packet-level analysis (tcpdump, Wireshark) and core services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP).
Enterprise network exposure: hands-on experience with at least one of the following — WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN), high-availability protocols (HSRP/VRRP), or data center/VXLAN fabrics.
Experience as a Network Engineer.
Strongly valued
Scripting/automation experience (Python, Ansible, or Terraform).
Observability tooling experience, ideally Prometheus & Grafana; exposure to ThousandEyes or similar is a plus.
Cloud networking exposure (AWS VPC or equivalent).
Familiarity with enterprise load balancers (F5 BIG-IP or similar).
CCNA (or equivalent); actively pursuing CCNP is a plus.
Location for this opportunity (City, Country)
