What the posting says

👷🏻‍♀️ What we do 👷🏻‍♀️

At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. We aim to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.

With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.

What you will work on

Your mission

Join our LCA team as a Working Student and support the work that sits underneath every Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) we produce. Your focus will be raw material matching, the backbone of every EPD and LCA. You will work with the ecoinvent database and our Emidat Ecomapping tool, and research LCA topics such as product category rule (PCR) requirements. You'll gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day LCA team, who are responsible for the correct calculation of LCA results in the Emidat App.

At the same time, you'll dive into the building materials industry itself — getting to know manufacturers of cement, steel, windows, construction chemicals, asphalt, electronic building equipment, and many more, and understanding how differently each of them approaches EPDs and LCAs. This gives you insight into a diverse product spectrum with different peculiarities from an LCA perspective, which is valuable for building broader experience in LCA.

There is also the long-term opportunity to support and supervise a practical master's thesis within the Emidat environment. Our LCA team has experience supervising academic theses.

In the first 6 months, you will

Match raw materials: Carry out raw material matchings, mapping the product's input materials to the ecoinvent database. Ecoinvent is the most widely used environmental database for LCA worldwide, so in-depth knowledge of it is a core advantage for working with LCAs. In the material mapping, you'll be supported by our Emidat Ecomapping tool.

Research LCA topics: Look into LCA questions as they come up, such as PCR requirements. Experience the process of translating LCA calculation rules into software logic that delivers both correct results and usability for customers.

Support the LCA team: Back up the LCA team in its day-to-day business. Gain first insights into customer requests with varying levels of LCA experience — a crucial skill for working as, e.g., an LCA consultant.

What you will bring to this role

Minimum requirements

Studies: You are enrolled in a degree programme in LCA, sustainability, chemistry or materials science.

First LCA experience: You have already worked with Life Cycle Assessment, whether through coursework, a thesis, an internship or a previous working student role.

AI native: Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate a workflow, analyse data, or accelerate a deliverable — comfortable experimenting with new AI features as they emerge.

Project Management: Demonstrated previous experience taking projects from start to finish - owning, structuring and driving the measurable outcomes.

Demonstrated Interest: Relevant work experience, education or interest in the sector. Demonstrated through engagement with climate topics, the building materials / construction industry, or how software can capture complex technical processes.

Languages: Business fluent in English (C1/C2).

Nice to have’s
