What the posting says

This hybrid role requires working in the office two days per week.

With millions of diners, 70,000+ restaurant partners and 25+ years of experience, OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most – their team, their guests, and their bottom line – while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.

Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You’ll also be part of a global team and its portfolio of metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.

About the Job

OpenTable is seeking a Lead Product Designer to scale the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of design across our OTKit design system and the Table Management System (TMS) platform. Reporting to the Design Systems leader, you will mature our design system capabilities while integrating responsible AI-powered workflows into everyday practices. In this role, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams to shape platform direction, elevate operational workflows for international restaurant partners, and advocate for exceptional user experiences at scale.

Responsibilities

Shape and execute the strategic roadmap for OTKit and the broader design systems practice, aligning foundational libraries and components with business goals and platform needs.

Lead end-to-end product design for key TMS platform areas, translating complex operational workflows into intuitive, localized, and cohesive restaurant management experiences.

Explore, test, and implement responsible AI workflows to accelerate component guidance, documentation, design QA, accessibility checks, and system-aligned prototyping.

Drive design system adoption and governance through active advocacy, clear documentation, feedback loops, and cross-functional enablement across product teams.

Partner with engineering, product, research, and data teams to bridge design intent with front-end implementation, preserving quality and accessibility across web and native platforms.

Establish feedback mechanisms and provide constructive guidance that strengthens design quality, system health, and experience cohesion across projects.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in product design, with a focus on digital products, platforms, or complex systems.

Proven track record of contributing to or leading a multi-platform design system used across diverse product teams and brands.

Demonstrated experience designing for responsive web and working with native platform nuances (iOS and Android).

Experience shaping AI-powered products or workflows, utilizing AI as a core medium for problem-framing and prototyping while maintaining a strong perspective on human judgment, user control, accessibility, transparency, and trust.

Experience designing B2B, operational, hospitality, or data-dense web platforms used by repeat professional users.

**When applying, please include your online portfolio link and password in the application. We are reviewing portfolios thoroughly as part of the selection process and we appreciate the opportunity to learn more about you and your work. Thank you!

Preferred Qualifications

Experience scaling a design system from early stages (0 to 1) or building adaptable frameworks for dual-market/international contexts.

Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and modern web UI frameworks to streamline engineering handoffs.

Experience establishing responsible AI guidelines, governance, or workflows within design or product organizations.

Background or demonstrated passion in the restaurant, hospitality, or dining industry.

Experience mentoring product designers and fostering inclusive, collaborative design system practices.

The best connections happen face-to-face, whether you’re sitting down to dinner or having coffee with a coworker. That’s why OpenTable has adopted a hybrid workplace model. This role aligns with that approach, with an expectation of coming into the office two days a week—giving employees the best of both worlds: in-person collaboration and flexibility.

The expected range of compensation for this position based in Toronto, Canada, including commission and/or bonuses, is $135,000-$165,000 CAD. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a compensation range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required.

We offer a competitive base salary and benefits including: health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave benefits. This role is eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.

Work Environment & Flexibility

As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

Inclusion

We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
