What the posting says
About Us:
CALSTART is now Catalyst Mobility. We are a mission-driven industry organization focused on transportation decarbonization and clean air for all.
For over 30 years, it’s been Catalyst Mobility’s mission to develop, assess, and implement large-scale, zero-emission transportation solutions to mitigate climate change and support economic growth. Catalyst Mobility works with businesses, organizations, governments, and communities to create real-life impact toward clean air and equitable access to clean transportation for all. Catalyst Mobility provides scientific, technical and policy support for regulatory development and clean technology and infrastructure acceleration.
About The Role:
As Lead Project Manager, Equitable Electric Mobility, you will help Catalyst Mobility drive equitable zero-emission transportation policies and programs across our priority states. This role will live within Catalyst's Innovative Mobility team, and your primary focus for the upcoming year will be managing operational and program activities within the Towards Equitable Electric Mobility (TEEM) Community of Practice, a collaborative initiative between Catalyst Mobility and The Greenlining Institute.
In this role, you will work with TEEM partners on setting strategic direction in alignment with Catalyst Mobility's broader organizational goals. You will work in close partnership with The Greenlining Institute to deliver hands-on coordination, capacity building, and peer-learning opportunities for a cohort of state-based environmental and equity organizations. You will help execute multi-state project goals, track deliverables, administer program budgets, handle reporting, and oversee efforts to attract additional funding for this work. You will ensure aligned campaign execution across state lines to build support for a national agenda for equitable electric mobility.
What You'll Do:
Program Execution & Management:
Co-manage day-to-day TEEM cohort operations and campaign execution in close partnership with The Greenlining Institute.
Execute clearly defined program workplans, tracking milestones and ensuring accountability across participating TEEM cohort organizations.
Oversee program budget tracking, contract administration, and re-granting agreements to local environmental justice partners under the guidance of senior leadership with the support of the Legal and Contracts departments.
Execute program evaluation plans, synthesizing data and collecting metrics to demonstrate program impact and inform ongoing cohort improvements.
Coordinate cross-functional alignment between TEEM initiatives and external mobility coalitions and campaigns (e.g., Clean RIDES Network, CHARGE, Energize).
Capacity Building & Facilitation:
Facilitate cohort calls, workshops, and working groups (ranging from 5 to 40+ participants) to foster relationship building, shared learning, and tactical collaboration.
Connect state cohort organizations with relevant technical expertise, policy tools, and resources from within Catalyst Mobility and external networks.
Assist cohort partners in establishing actionable workplans that strengthen local narrative storytelling and community support for equitable transportation policies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Program Support:
Support relationship management and strategy development with key program funders, coalition leaders, and aligned national campaign partners.
Contribute to grant proposals, narrative reporting, and funder communications in collaboration with Catalyst Mobility’s development team.
Represent Catalyst Mobility at designated public events, coalition meetings, and conferences as a subject matter specialist in equitable electric mobility.
Collaborate with internal teams across Catalyst Mobility, such as the Policy team, to identify operational synergies and shared opportunities.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 5–7 years of professional experience in social, political, environmental, or policy campaigns with a focus on building partner capacity or coalition management.
Program Execution: Proven track record of managing complex project timelines, tracking deliverable metrics, and keeping multi-stakeholder initiatives on schedule.
Equity Centered Skills: Demonstrated commitment to centering belonging, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in your work
Facilitation Skills: Strong group facilitation skills with experience navigating diverse coalition dynamics and building consensus across varied groups.
Nonprofit Context: At least 2–3 years of experience operating within nonprofit organizational structures and coalition environments.
Communication: Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills tailored for diverse audiences including community advocates, funders, and peers.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel periodically between TEEM target states and nationally as required (approx. 15–20%).
Desired Qualifications:
Subject matter familiarity with electric transportation, clean energy, or mobility policy
Prior experience supporting nonprofit grant proposals or funder reporting workflows.
Geographic location within a key TEEM state (Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, or Virginia).
Familiarity with project management software, budget tracking tools, and modern collaborative technology stack.
We understand that not everyone will match the above qualifications 100%. If your background isn't perfectly aligned but you feel you would be a great addition to the team, we'd love to hear from you.
