Linux on IBM Z & LinuxONE Systems Performance Analyst (m/f/x) - Ehningen

Salary: 50.000 - 80.000 € per year

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, or computer engineering

Experience to work in virtualized environments like KVM, z/VM or Container based

Functional or performance testing experience of multi-tiered applications

Experience with programming languages like Bash and Python

Good understanding of Operating System and Computer Architecture concepts

Basic experience with performance analysis of applications / systems and performance tools

Good communication and presentation skills

Masters degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering

Knowledge of IBM Z Systems physical architecture

Experience with further programming languages like C/C++, Golang, Java, Rust

Linux on IBM Z functional or performance testing knowledge

Linux system administration skills for HW resources and software products including CPU, memory, storage, network, cryptography, z/VM, KVM, podman Container, databases, application server, web applications, etc.

Responsibilities:

Design benchmark scenarios

Implement and tune workloads

Conduct workload measurements

Analyze performance data to guide Hardware, Operating System, and Software development teams on performance improvements

Learn about the different aspects of workloads and how to choose the right benchmark for individual scenarios

Investigate identified bottlenecks in the environment

Understand Linux operating system tuning capabilities and adjust and fine tune the system to the required level of performance

Select different I/O connectivity and technology to right size the environment for the optimal price vs performance balance

Analyze IBM Z low level traces captured during the measurements to gain deep insights into the IBM Z architecture

We are the Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE Systems Performance team, and we are looking for a Graduate to join and strengthen our team. We are responsible for designing, implementing, conducting, and analyzing stress workloads and benchmarks on IBM Z and LinuxONE to ensure customer expectations are met from a performance perspective. This role is collaborative within a global IBM team. The required education is a Bachelors Degree, and a Masters Degree is preferred.
