MATERIAL HANDLER

The Material Handler position is a support role for all operations at our launch site in Cape Canaveral, FL. The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that our engineering and technician teams have all the necessary materials for mission-critical projects. This job involves actively working in the field with the planning team, technicians, and engineers to stage all materials required for projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interface with the engineering/technician teams to alleviate material bottlenecks in the field

Maintain clean and organized delivery areas

Pick up and deliver materials to multiple worksites across Cape Canaveral and the surrounding areas

Stage/transport materials for work orders

Operate material handling equipment and maintain operator qualifications

Construct delivery locations as needed, including but not limited to building shelves, putting up signs, reorganizing and/or relocating materials, and properly disposing of trash and scrap materials

Expedite parts to meet estimated completion dates

Utilize the factory scheduler to manage, prioritize, and complete requests for inventory from work orders

Manage outgoing materials and finished goods to ensure on-time delivery to their destinations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate

Experience operating a forklift and/or other material-handling motorized vehicles/equipment

2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or logistics environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience reading and understanding a bill of materials

Use of precision measuring instruments

Strong communication skills for relaying data between other employees and customers

Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as work alone with minimal supervision

Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

Experience in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environment

Mechanical experience or experience as a technician is preferred

Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, shop floor management software, and inventory management software

Experience working with manufacturing system requests for inventory (RFI), requests for parts (RFP), or work orders (WO)

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral

Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand

Ability to work the following shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 4:30pm

Ability to work on ladders/lifts at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with appropriate safety equipment

Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain

Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise

Must maintain certification for pallet/all-terrain forklifts

Valid driver’s license

Physical effort with some handling of lightweight supplies or materials (up to 50 lbs. unassisted)

Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
