What the posting says
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve.
We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that.
Here’s what this particular role covers.
🛠️ About our Network & Infrastructure Teams
Our team owns the network and site infrastructure that keeps Wayve connected across offices, garages, labs and test facilities in six countries. We’re a growing team of seven engineers across the UK, US, Japan and Israel, delivering a multi-year network upgrade and supporting new sites as Wayve expands. As Network & Infrastructure Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the team, partnering with a staff-level network engineer who sets architecture and standards, and with our Security, Cloud and Workplace teams.
🧠 Your day-to-day
Lead, hire and develop a distributed team, helping engineers grow into domain owners.
Own the roadmap, delivery priorities and vendor relationships for our network and site infrastructure.
Work with our staff-level network engineer to turn technical direction into reliable delivery.
Stay hands-on for roughly 20% of your week, reviewing designs, setting engineering standards and improving automation.
Take part in the network on-call rotation, own P1 escalations and drive corrective actions after incidents.
Partner with Security, Cloud and Workplace colleagues, with regular travel to our sites in Europe, the US and Japan.
🧩 What you’ll be working on
Delivering an approved, multi-year network replacement across our sites, including hardware standards, vendor coordination and safe cutovers.
Building and operating local and wide area networks, wireless, firewalls, certificate-based 802.1X network access control, monitoring and out-of-band management.
Shaping new sites end to end: network connectivity, audio-visual systems, meeting rooms, desk technology and fit-out IT.
Improving connectivity between our sites and cloud platforms, in partnership with the team that owns those platforms.
Turning manual infrastructure work into repeatable automation and infrastructure as code.
Delivering network security controls and evidence that support customer requirements and security assessments.
🙌 You should apply if
You’ve led a network or infrastructure team across sites and time zones, including hiring, performance management and developing engineers.
You bring deep hands-on enterprise networking experience across local and wide area networks, wireless, firewalls and certificate-based 802.1X.
You’ve owned site infrastructure beyond the network, such as AV, meeting rooms, fit-outs or new-site builds.
You’re comfortable with infrastructure as code and network automation, and can set standards and review your team’s work.
You’ve owned major network incidents and delivered multi-site hardware programmes with vendors and resellers.
You’ve delivered network controls and evidence for TISAX, ISO 27001, SOC 2 or an equivalent security assessment.
You want a people-leadership role that still includes hands-on engineering, on-call responsibilities and regular travel—not a network-only or purely strategic position.
Experience with Juniper SRX and Mist, Azure or AWS hybrid connectivity, RADIUS and certificate infrastructure, or automotive supplier-security assessments would be a plus.
🌱 Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement.
More about Wayve:
🚀 Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving. We are pioneering an end to end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real world experience, developing the ability to adapt, generalise and improve at scale. Instead of relying on hand coded rules or pre mapped environments, our AI Driver learns to drive by understanding the world around it. The result is technology that navigates complex urban environments with intelligence, precision and natural flow, unlocking meaningful advances in both safety and efficiency. We believe autonomy represents a once in a generation transformation in how people and goods move, comparable to the shift from horses to cars, and from human driven vehicles to intelligent machines.
Our ambition is to make autonomy universal. Wayve’s mapless and hardware agnostic AI platform integrates with global OEM partners, enabling continuous software evolution and unlocking advanced levels of automation from L2 plus through to L4 as our core AI model scales. In a race increasingly defined by intelligence and real world learning, Wayve is taking a distinct approach, building a generalisable driving intelligence that can power any vehicle, anywhere. By combining embodied AI with scalable deployment, we are creating technology that can be shaped to each OEM brand and driver experience, accelerating the transition to a safer, more intelligent future of mobility.

A quick, honest note before you apply.
Wayve is not a mature, fully-structured place with the playbook already written. Much of how we work is still being written, and if you join, you’ll help write it. That suits people who want real ownership more than people who need a settled structure from day one.
If that sounds like the kind of problem you want to spend your time on, we’d really like to hear from you.
