What the posting says

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

Evaluate equipment overpressure/overtemperature scenarios, including boilers, heat recovery systems, turbines, pressure vessels, and relief systems

Perform/oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), risk assessments, and hazard analyses on complex process and power plant equipment

Implement and field-validate safety-critical instruments and interlocks during Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) as new generating units and supporting systems come online

Implement a Process Safety Management (PSM) program and ensure compliance with all applicable pillars of PSM

Support commissioning and startup of new power generation facilities and major capital projects in Memphis

Partner with operations, maintenance, and construction teams to identify and mitigate process safety risks during both ongoing operations and facility build-out

Utilization of quality and risk tools such as root cause analysis and corrective action, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA/PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving

Utilization of process modeling tools such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, and/or Aspen Dynamics

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in process safety, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or an engineering discipline

3+ years of experience with design, commissioning, or process safety of power generation, utilities, or high-hazard process systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in chemical engineering

Master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering

Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment datasheets, and instrumentation diagrams

Experience with reviewing safety control circuits and calculating safety performance levels (SIL/SIS)

Experience with design, commissioning, or PHA of power plant systems such as fuel gas, boilers/HRSGs, steam turbines, high-energy piping, hydrogen, ammonia, water treatment, and bulk chemical storage

Advanced understanding of industry codes, standards, and practices such as ASME, NFPA, ANSI, IBC/IFC, RAGAGEP, and applicable OSHA PSM / EPA RMP requirements

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

Enthusiasm for supporting high-reliability power generation that enables mission-critical operations
