Psychoeducation Counselor

Position Summary

Sanctuary is a counseling psychoeducation program of Clergy Care (a division of META Care) serving diocesan priests. The Sanctuary Counselor is a licensed mental health professional who provides one-on-one psychoeducation, helping priests understand what they're experiencing, and learn meaningful tools, aiding in the reduction of stigma. The Sanctuary Counselor also supports priests through advocacy and comprehensive care coordination, connecting them to outside treatment and providers when that's the right next step.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one psychoeducation to priests via telehealth, across topics like burnout, stress, sleep, substance use, relationships, loneliness, stigma, and life transitions, and other identified topics.

Guide each priest in choosing the right educational themes within the program and walk with him through it.

Track outcomes with brief pre/post assessments to help improve the program.

Recognize when a priest needs more than education and coordinate a referral to outside providers, with his consent.

Maintain confidentiality and Sanctuary's documentation standards and follow crisis protocols when safety concerns arise.

Master's degree in a mental health field, with an active (or associate/license-eligible) clinical license.
