Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours
Preferred Locations: LATAM, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, South Africa
About the Role
At Pavago, one of our clients — a fast-growing, product-focused technology company — is hiring a senior-level QA Automation Engineer to strengthen its test automation infrastructure and improve software quality at scale.
This is not a manual QA role.
You’ll take hands-on ownership of:
Playwright automation
TypeScript-based testing
E2E test frameworks
Regression coverage
Test stability and flaky-test reduction
CI/CD integration
AI-assisted testing workflows
You’ll work directly with frontend and backend engineers to build reliable, scalable automation that increases release confidence and catches problems before they reach production.
If you think like an engineer, enjoy solving difficult automation problems, and care about building maintainable test infrastructure, this role is a strong fit.
What You’ll Own
Test Automation & Framework Development
Build and maintain end-to-end (E2E) automated tests using:
Playwright
TypeScript
Expand automation coverage across critical:
User journeys
Product workflows
Regression scenarios
Build reusable:
Test utilities
Fixtures
Testing patterns
Automation components
Improve framework:
Maintainability
Scalability
Reliability
Execution speed
Maintain clean and sustainable automation architecture
Test Stability & Flaky-Test Reduction
Identify, troubleshoot, and eliminate flaky tests
Diagnose failures involving:
DOM interactions
Network requests
Asynchronous behavior
Timing and synchronization
Test environments
Reduce false positives and inconsistent failures
Improve regression suite reliability
Develop reliable test-data strategies
Help maintain stable testing environments
CI/CD & Release Automation
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
Ensure automated test suites run reliably during deployment workflows
Review CI/CD test results and troubleshoot failures
Improve execution speed and feedback cycles
Support release validation and regression prevention
Increase engineering confidence in production deployments
Engineering Collaboration
Work directly with frontend and backend engineers during feature development
Collaborate on:
Testability
Regression prevention
Release readiness
Automation architecture
Participate in engineering and testing discussions
Identify quality risks before releases
Provide clear technical feedback when defects or automation issues are identified
AI-Assisted Testing & Quality Innovation
Use AI-assisted tools to improve:
Exploratory testing
Edge-case identification
Test development
Debugging
Identify opportunities to increase automation coverage and testing efficiency
Experiment with modern QA and automation workflows
Help evolve testing practices as AI-assisted engineering tools improve
Required Experience & Skills
Core Requirements
Strong proficiency in TypeScript
Hands-on experience with Playwright
Strong Cypress experience with willingness to transition to Playwright may also be considered
Proven experience building and maintaining E2E automation frameworks
Strong understanding of:
DOM interaction
Network requests
Asynchronous application behavior
Test synchronization
Flaky-test diagnosis
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities
Experience improving automation reliability and regression coverage
Ability to work directly with software engineers in a modern product environment
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Nice to Have
Experience building automation infrastructure from scratch
Experience with test-data management and environment strategies
B2B SaaS testing experience
Experience testing:
Multi-tenant applications
Role-based permissions
Complex user workflows
Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools and workflows
Experience in Agile or product-led engineering environments
Strong understanding of modern software development and release practices
What Makes You a Strong Fit
You think like an engineer first and tester second
You prefer automation over repetitive manual testing
You enjoy diagnosing why tests are unstable rather than simply rerunning them
You take ownership of framework quality and long-term maintainability
You understand how modern web applications behave across the DOM, network, and asynchronous workflows
You care about clean, reusable automation code
You work effectively with minimal management
You communicate clearly with frontend and backend engineers
What a Typical Day Looks Like
You might start by reviewing CI/CD test results and investigating a flaky Playwright test affecting the regression suite.
From there, you could build automated coverage for a newly released workflow, improve shared TypeScript fixtures, troubleshoot asynchronous behavior, or collaborate with an engineer on making a feature easier to test reliably.
You’ll also continuously improve test performance, framework stability, and automation coverage while experimenting with AI-assisted approaches to exploratory testing and edge-case detection.
In short: you build the automation infrastructure that keeps software releases fast, reliable, and production-ready.
Key Metrics for Success
Increased E2E automation coverage
Reduction in flaky and unreliable tests
Stable CI/CD test execution
Faster automated test execution
Improved regression detection
Increased release confidence
Reduction in production issues
Maintainable and reusable automation architecture
Strong collaboration with engineering teams
Why This Role Stands Out
Automation-first engineering role — not manual QA
Deep hands-on work with Playwright and TypeScript
Ownership over automation architecture and framework reliability
Direct collaboration with frontend and backend engineering teams
Opportunity to improve CI/CD and release quality
Exposure to AI-assisted testing workflows
High autonomy in a fast-moving product environment
Fully remote opportunity
