What the posting says

Senior Backend Engineer (Java) — IoT Remote Monitoring & Energy Management System

Location: Germany · Munich

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Team

We are building an IoT remote monitoring and Energy Management System (EMS) for the European market, covering data ingestion, monitoring & alerting, and energy scheduling/optimization for PV and storage assets. Our stack is modern, our market is Europe (GDPR, Data Act compliance), and we are exploring AI-powered assistants as a new direction. You will take deep ownership of core system design and evolution, with a clear growth path toward System Engineering (solution design) or full-stack development.

Responsibilities

Design and develop backend services for IoT remote monitoring and EMS: device data ingestion, time-series processing, alerting, reporting, and control-command flows.

Build, test, and ship modules on our stack: Java 21 / Spring Boot / MyBatis-Plus / MySQL / Redis / Kafka / ClickHouse / Quartz / S3-MinIO.

Own system-solution work: analyze requirements, produce database designs, API designs, and third-party integration proposals; lead or join technical design reviews.

Integrate with third-party systems and data exchanges (REST / SFTP / object storage) with security and reliability.

Support production operations: monitoring & alerting, performance optimization, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Collaborate with product, frontend, and compliance teams to embed GDPR / Data Act requirements into system design.

Explore and deliver AI-powered features (e.g., AI Q&A assistant).

Requirements (Must-have)

Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or related field; 6+ years of Java backend development experience.

Strong command of Java / Spring Boot; solid experience designing and delivering microservice architectures.

Proficient with MyBatis-Plus and MySQL/MariaDB; strong SQL tuning and schema design skills.

Proficient with Redis (cache architecture, distributed locks, cache-consistency strategies).

Familiar with Kafka or equivalent messaging systems (RocketMQ etc.), with a solid grasp of delivery semantics (no loss, no duplication, backlog handling).

Hands-on experience with ClickHouse or other analytical engines (Doris / StarRocks / time-series databases).

Familiar with Linux, job scheduling (Quartz / XXL-Job), SFTP/SSH integration, and S3/MinIO object storage.

Meet at least one of the following:

SE track: able to independently produce system/solution design documents; have led the design and delivery of medium-to-large modules or systems.

Full-stack track: hands-on delivery experience with React / Vue frontend, with the willingness and potential to grow into a full-stack engineer.

Professional working proficiency in English (fluent reading/writing; spoken English sufficient for cross-border collaboration).

Nice to Have

Domain experience in PV / energy storage / power / energy industry, or IoT platforms.

Familiarity with European data regulations (GDPR, Data Act) and compliance-driven design.

Experience with Spring AI / LLM applications (RAG, agents, tool calling).

Docker / Kubernetes; cloud experience on Azure or AWS.

German language skills (B1 or above).

Quality

Completeness: 45%

Not enough history yet to judge honesty signals.
