About Northwave
Defending the digital frontier is our mission.
At Northwave, 275 cybersecurity specialists transform how organisations approach digital safety. From our HQ in Utrecht, our DACH HQ in Leipzig and offices in Austria, Sweden, and Belgium.
Northwave combines ethical hacking expertise with behavioral psychology insights and cutting-edge security management at the highest level. We respond to threats and anticipate them, providing 24/7 managed security services and tailored solutions for each client's journey.
By joining Northwave, you’ll become part of an organisation where innovation drives results, whether your talents lie in technical penetration testing or strategic client partnerships. Here, your expertise will grow and help shape the future of digital security across industries, leaving a lasting impact.
Your Mission
As a Senior Business Security Consultant, you act as a strategic advisor and trusted partner for our clients. You help organizations navigate their digital transformation in a secure, resilient, and sustainable way. By connecting business objectives with cybersecurity challenges, you translate regulatory requirements and evolving threat landscapes into practical strategies that create measurable business value.
Drawing on your experience, you quickly understand complex organizational structures, identify both risks and opportunities, and engage with senior decision-makers as a trusted sparring partner. You take ownership of challenging client engagements, lead projects independently from initial concept through successful delivery, and ensure that recommendations are not only designed but also effectively embedded within the organization.
Your projects cover a broad range of topics, including security strategy, risk management, compliance frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, and ISO 27001, as well as Northwave's comprehensive Managed Security Services. In this role, you work with mid-sized and large organizations across the DACH region, supporting them in their cybersecurity and business transformation initiatives.
As a Senior Consultant, you bring together Northwave's various areas of expertise. You coordinate collaboration between technical, behavioral, and incident response teams, provide functional leadership within multidisciplinary project teams, and ensure that individual measures are integrated into coherent and effective security programs.
In addition, you actively contribute to the growth and development of our consulting business. You identify emerging client needs, participate in sales and business development activities, and leverage your expertise to expand our service portfolio. At the same time, you mentor and support colleagues, foster knowledge sharing, and help strengthen the capabilities of the consulting team as a whole.
What You Enjoy
Analyzing complex business models, industry-specific requirements, and organizational challenges, and translating these insights into tailored security strategies.
Leading and successfully delivering large-scale, complex consulting and transformation projects with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
Translating evolving threat landscapes and regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, and ISO 27001 into practical and actionable strategic roadmaps.
Advising and challenging executive leadership teams, board members, and other senior stakeholders on cybersecurity-related decisions.
Providing guidance, coaching, and functional leadership to colleagues within project teams while actively promoting knowledge sharing across the organization.
Facilitating workshops, executive presentations, and strategic decision-making processes at management and board level.
Identifying business opportunities and actively contributing to sales, proposal development, and business development activities.
Collaborating with interdisciplinary experts to design innovative and effective security solutions for our clients.
Continuously expanding your cybersecurity expertise and contributing to the strategic direction and development of our consulting practice.
What you can expect from us
First things first: You will get 30 days' holiday per year and we contribute a minimum of 20% to your company pension plan (bAV). You can organise your own working hours in consultation with your colleagues and customers.
A mobility budget, also for private use, makes trips to your customers easier. Of course, we also pay travelling allowances.
What do you want to achieve and what support do you need? You will receive regular training and support in achieving your professional goals. You can also develop further within Northwave.
It is important to us to respect and value each other - as professionals and as people. The best way to get to know your 275+ colleagues from the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Sweden is to take part in one of our many activities, such as a trip to the theme park.
You will be equipped with a modern MacBook and iPhone. We have height-adjustable desks in our offices and our CEO loves to kit us out with merchandise ;-)
what else...
No, the fruit basket in the office is not a benefit for us, but a matter of course - just like coffee, tea and lemonade. Have you ever tried Dutch caramel waffles?
Consulting Expertise: You bring extensive experience in cybersecurity and/or management consulting and have successfully managed complex transformation and advisory projects in client-facing environments.
Trusted Advisor Mindset: You are comfortable challenging and advising executive stakeholders, earning credibility quickly and acting as a trusted advisor throughout strategic decision-making processes.
Commercial Awareness: You combine a strong consulting mindset with commercial acumen, helping to identify opportunities, shape client engagements, and support business growth initiatives.
Leadership & Mentoring: You enjoy sharing knowledge, coaching colleagues, and contributing to the development of high-performing consulting teams.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in German and English is required.
