About this role
Faire is hiring a Senior Counsel, Regulatory & Product to advise the teams building our marketplace and to help us engage with the regulatory developments that shape it. This role is ideal for someone as excited about shaping the law as they are about advising on it. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you'll partner closely with our product and engineering teams, helping them craft practical solutions to navigate legal complexity. You'll also build the muscle for identifying and tracking the legislative and regulatory developments that matter to Faire and to the brands and retailers on our platform. Working with stakeholders across the company and externally, you'll develop and advance positions to help the small businesses on our platform, and the local communities they anchor, thrive.
What you’ll do
Partner directly with Faire’s engineering, product, data, and design teams to provide practical legal guidance across a wide range of legal domains on product development and go-to-market strategy
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across local, state and federal jurisdictions and evaluate the potential implications for Faire and the small businesses that use our platform
Develop Faire's positions on potential legislation and regulation in partnership with stakeholders across the business
Translate emerging legal and regulatory obligations into practical product and operational requirements
Manage relationships with trade associations, coalitions, and external consultants to ensure cohesive advocacy efforts and alignment on priorities
Support Faire’s engagement and advocacy efforts with regulators, legislators, and their staff
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
5+ years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house, in government, and/or at a judicial clerkship
Meaningful exposure to how law and policy get made, either as a legislative aide, in an agency or administration, or through regulatory advocacy
Willingness to travel
Experience counseling product teams and/or online marketplaces is a plus
Actively experimenting with AI in legal work, and excited to go deeper
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide risk-calibrated and solution-focused advice to product and engineering teams
Scrappy and resourceful – when something needs to get done, you find a way to make it happen
Salary Range
San Francisco : the pay range for this role is $153,500 to $211,000 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.
