What the posting says

Position

Do you have a clear ambition to shape IT procurement and existing IT spend in a way that optimizes demand, specifications, and commercial models, resulting in P&L-relevant savings? And would like to become part of our IT Value Creation Team?

Then we have exactly the right role for you:

(SENIOR) EXPERT SOFTWARE SOURCING & VALUE CREATION

Start date flexible, permanent position, during the week project-related at our clients’ sites, and typically on Fridays in our offices in Munich, Cologne, or Hamburg

Your mission

In this role, you analyze our clients’ existing software spend, license inventories, and contract structures, deriving concrete savings potential

You prepare complex new procurements and contract renewals with enterprise software and SaaS providers such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, ServiceNow, or comparable vendors

Together with IT, business departments, and program leads, you critically challenge requirements, user groups, license types, modules, add-ons, roll-out plans, and growth assumptions

A key part of your work is developing target volumes, licensing and contract models, as well as negotiation strategies for renewals and new procurements

You assess license metrics, entitlements, usage rights, edition logic, and contractual mechanisms such as minimum commitments, price increases, true-ups, audit rights, termination periods, and contract terms

Working closely with our procurement experts, you translate business and technical requirements into commercially sound sourcing decisions

You prepare workshops, lead discussions with clients, and structure decision-making for IT, business departments, procurement, and management

Your work also includes supporting the implementation of measures such as downsizing, reharvesting, cleaning up unused licenses, adjusting license editions, or avoiding unnecessary commitments

Beyond client work, you further develop our expertise in Software Sourcing & Commercial Value and actively share your knowledge with colleagues

Your profile

A completed degree, ideally in business informatics, business administration, computer science, industrial engineering, or a comparable field

At least five years of professional experience in software procurement, IT vendor management, software asset management, license consulting, IT sourcing, IT commercial management, or a comparable environment

Practical experience with enterprise software and SaaS contracts, particularly in renewals, new procurements, contract optimization, or license clean-up

A solid understanding of license metrics, subscriptions, entitlements, usage rights, edition and pricing models, as well as typical contractual clauses

Concrete project experience with at least two major vendor ecosystems such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, or ServiceNow

The ability to critically question requirements and specifications without losing sight of the underlying business needs

Experience in preparing and conducting commercial negotiations, as well as developing robust negotiation strategies

Experience in leading workshops, structuring complex issues, and collaborating with different stakeholder groups

Consulting experience is welcome. If you come from an in-house role, you ideally bring experience from cross-functional projects and complex decision-making situations

Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken

An analytical, structured, and independent way of working, combined with a strong sense for people and situations

The willingness to take ownership, drive your own topics forward, and implement them effectively at our clients
