What the posting says

Lightly AG is a Zurich-based AI company and ETH/HSG spin-off, backed by Y Combinator and top-tier investors. Our machine learning and computer vision technology is trusted by global leaders in autonomous driving, medical imaging, and visual inspection.

We’re looking for experienced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) professionals with strong financial modeling and analytical backgrounds to support an advanced AI evaluation project. You'll design realistic financial planning and business decision-making tasks, develop reference solutions, and evaluate AI-generated financial outputs for accuracy, completeness, and practical business relevance.

This is a remote, project-based contractor opportunity with flexible working hours.

Compensation: $400 USD per accepted task. Each task is estimated to take approximately 5–6 hours to complete, equivalent to an indicative hourly rate of $67–$80/hour. Actual earnings per hour will vary depending on the time spent completing each task. Compensation is based on successfully completed and accepted tasks, not on hours worked.

Tasks

What you'll be doing

Design realistic FP&A tasks and business scenarios that reflect complex, real-world financial planning, forecasting, and decision-making workflows

Develop financial models and reference solutions using Excel, including traceable formulas, documented assumptions, scenario analysis, and consistency checks

Create tasks involving core FP&A processes, such as annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, headcount planning, and investment decisions

Build and evaluate integrated financial analyses, incorporating income statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, working capital, and liquidity considerations

Develop scenarios involving multiple sources of financial and business information, including spreadsheets, contracts, emails, and management presentations

Evaluate AI-generated financial models, analyses, and recommendations for technical accuracy, financial consistency, completeness, and sound business judgment

Identify material errors, unsupported assumptions, inconsistencies, and weaknesses in financial models or conclusions

Define clear evaluation criteria and acceptable outcomes, accounting for valid alternative financial approaches and reasonable assumptions

Write precise task instructions, reference answers, and concise executive-level explanations that accurately reflect the underlying financial analysis

Apply structured evaluation guidelines consistently, providing clear, evidence-based rationales for your assessments

The project focuses on developing and evaluating realistic financial tasks to assess how effectively advanced AI systems can perform complex FP&A workflows. Your role is to bring practical financial expertise to the design of challenging business scenarios and the evaluation of AI-generated outputs against professional standards.

Requirements

You're a strong candidate if you:

Have 5+ years of relevant professional experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, finance business partnering, or a closely related field, or equivalent demonstrated expertise

Have advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including building, reviewing, and auditing complex financial models with transparent formulas and well-documented assumptions

Have hands-on experience owning or supporting financial planning processes, including operating budgets, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, headcount planning, and investment evaluations

Have a strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles, including the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, liquidity, and debt covenants

Are comfortable building scenario-based financial models, evaluating different business assumptions, and assessing their impact on financial performance

Can independently reconcile complex or conflicting financial information across spreadsheets, contracts, business documents, and management reports

Have strong analytical judgment and can identify material financial errors, flawed assumptions, inconsistencies, and unsupported conclusions

Can assess the quality and correctness of financial analyses, including recognizing valid alternative methodologies and defining clear acceptance criteria

Have excellent written English communication skills and can produce precise instructions, structured financial explanations, and concise executive memos

Have strong attention to detail and can consistently apply detailed evaluation guidelines while exercising independent professional judgment

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in software, technology, or SaaS businesses, including ARR, retention, gross margin analysis, and subscription-based financial planning

Experience with financial model auditing, quality assurance, or reviewing financial deliverables prepared by others

Previous exposure to AI evaluation, benchmark development, or designing structured analytical assessments

Experience presenting financial analyses and recommendations to senior management or executive stakeholders

Benefits and Compensation

$400 USD per accepted task, with an estimated completion time of 5–6 hours

Fully remote and flexible — work from anywhere

Part-time contractor role with flexible hours

Work on the evaluation of cutting-edge AI systems tackling complex financial and business decision-making tasks

Send us your CV along with a brief note about your FP&A background, financial modeling experience, and areas of expertise. Please highlight your experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and any relevant software or SaaS industry exposure.

If applicable, we'd also love to know about your experience building complex financial models, reviewing financial deliverables, or designing financial assessments and business cases.

We look forward to hearing from you!
