Client Profile
Axo Group is a Fintech company and the go-to loan broker in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. They operate across the Nordic through their brands: Axo Finans, LendMe and Axolania and have been in the market for more than 10 years.
Axo acts as a broker between consumers looking to refinance and consolidate unsecure depth (credit cards and unsecure loans) and banks all over the Nordics. For the consumer they make sure they get the best offer with the best possible terms since they work with 25-35 banks in each market. For banks, they serve as an important marketing channel for attracting new customers.
Their business is doing tremendously well and based on their strategy to build one global platform, they're in the need of yet another skilled developer to help them build even more great stuff.
Responsibilities
You will become a member of a global Tech team located in Oslo, Helsingborg and Lisbon, building a multilanguage, highly scalable, cloud native, multi market broker and membership platform, with a bare minimum of legacy code.
Owns significant front-end features end-to-end on the Money & Volume (M&V) surfaces of the Axo platform — React and TypeScript. Works in an AI-First engineering culture where Claude Code and AI assisted development are daily workflow, not optional extras. Bridges product thinking, strong architecture instincts, and practical delivery — shipping multiple features a week while maintaining the quality standard that financial data demands. Contributes to architectural direction, mentors junior developers, and collaborates across product, design, and data.
Your responsibilities will grow to match your abilities and experience.
Own complete front-end feature development from spec through deployment — React / TypeScript
Lead architectural discussions - document decisions in lightweight specs and plans (spec.md / plan.md)• Build and review AI agent workflows using Claude Code, or equivalent tools — delegate implementation, review all output
Build responsive, accessible UI and integrate with platform and financial APIs (REST / GraphQL)
Grow into fullstack — take on backend work in Go as you progress, starting with domain modelling and resource-oriented API design (owning the data-access layer over time)
Learn to enforce GDPR and EU AI Act compliance requirements in every feature — data privacy is architecture, not a checkbox
Mentor mid-level and junior engineers; set the bar for code quality and AI-assisted development practices
Technical Requirements (Must Have):
Frontend — React
5+ years front-end experience; 3+ years building production React
Strong command of modern React — hooks, composition, render/performance behavior, and when not to reach for a hook
Strong, idiomatic TypeScript across a large codebase — generics, discriminated unions, inference, typing shared library boundaries (not just typing props)
Writes clean, component-driven code with clear separation of concerns
Solid grasp of state management and data-fetching patterns, and the judgment to decouple data fetching from components: cache invalidation, request/loading/error state modeling, optimistic updates, deduplication, and validating data shapes at the network boundary rather than trusting the wire
Comfortable instrumenting what they ship — event tracking for measurement, and reading experiment results to know whether it worked
Comfortable consuming and integrating resource-oriented REST APIs, including our headless CMS
Works effectively in a large shared codebase / monorepo — respects package boundaries, reasons about blast radius, does not just tend their own corner
Hands-on experience with a modern SSR React framework — data loading, streaming, caching layers, the client/server boundary (where most of our surface area lives)
A modern JS/TS test runner and React Testing Library — tests behavior, not implementation
Component-driven development with isolated component testing and visual/interaction regression tooling
Treats a green pipeline and trunk-based development as table stakes — small, frequently-merged changes, not long-lived branches • Comfortable with debugging and performance tuning
UI craft & collaboration
Builds responsive, accessible UI (WCAG-aware) with attention to UX
Strong HTML / CSS and modern JavaScript / TypeScript fundamentals
Comfortable working within a shared, multi-brand design system and component library — design tokens, theming, and accessibility built into shared primitives rather than reimplemented per surface
Collaborates closely with design and back-end on shared API contracts
Technical Requirements (Good to Have):
Existing daily use of agentic coding tools - able to describe and demonstrate a personal AI development workflow and tooling setup (e.g. CLAUDE.md, project rules, context engineering) - is a strong plus, not a prerequisite
Genuine interest in growing into fullstack — willing to learn Go for back-end work (the growth path for this role)
Any back-end exposure (Go, Node, or similar); experience in regulated / fintech environments (GDPR, handling financial/personal data)
Domain modelling and resource-oriented API design — the first proficiency on the fullstack growth path, leading to owning the data-access layer
Knows how to write and review Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), Low Level Design (LLD) and High Level Design (HLD) documents — useful as you take on more architectural ownership
Large-monorepo tooling (pnpm workspaces, Turborepo): build graphs, affected-based CI, shared package versioning
Core Web Vitals / INP optimization, SSR performance, edge/CDN caching, bundle-size disciplineMulti-brand / multi-market / i18n product experience
Feature-flag / experimentation platforms (e.g. Statsig, LaunchDarkly); observability tooling (e.g. Sentry); behavioral analytics
Experience with React Hook Form (or equivalent) for complex form state
Traveling:
Mainly company events and internal meetings between offices
