What the posting says
This role sits within the Onboarding & Incentives pillar of the Rider Growth function at Deliveroo, this pillar owns the journey from the moment an applicant expresses interest through to a fully habituated, retained rider. We collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, Regional Operations, Rider Marketing and the Retention team to secure and retain a high-quality fleet.
We are seeking a Senior Manager to own three of the core engines behind our rider supply strategy: incentives, performance tracking, and target setting with scope to own wider areas of responsibility as these solutions are productionised.
You will have overall accountability of our rider referral program from strategy to execution. You’ll partner closely with the Retention & Resurrection team on retention incentives, ensuring incentive spend across the rider lifecycle is efficient, well-targeted, and joined up. As part of this, you’ll design the governance frameworks needed to ensure all incentives across referrals, retention, resurrection and activation are operating efficiently and tests are designed robustly.
You will also own performance tracking of rider hours end-to-end, partnering with teams across acquisition, conversion, activation, and retention to understand the forecast and actuals behind their initiatives, and working with Data Science to attribute causality to that work – giving senior stakeholders an accurate, defensible read on how our supply investments are performing.
Finally, you will own our rider applicant target-setting model which is used to determine our rider acquisition forecasts vs top-down targets, working with Science and local Regional Operations teams. Improvements here will ensure we’re able to plan for longer time horizons with greater degrees of accuracy as well as scenario planning with our Rider Marketing team to drive efficiencies in cost per applicant.
What we’re looking for
Analytical Rigor: You are highly comfortable building and defending forecasting, target-setting, and attribution models, and can translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
Ownership & Follow-Through: You take full accountability for the incentives and reporting you own, proactively flagging risks to plan and driving fixes end-to-end.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: You work effectively across Data Science, Regional Operations, Retention & Resurrection, and Rider Marketing to align on shared goals and targets.
Stakeholder Communication: You can distil complex performance and target-setting narratives into clear, credible updates for senior stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
Referral & Reactivation Incentives: Own the end-to-end strategy, performance, and budget for rider referral and reactivation incentive programmes, continuously testing and iterating to improve efficiency.
Retention Incentive Partnership: Partner closely with the Retention & Resurrection team on retention incentives, ensuring a joined-up approach to incentive spend across the rider lifecycle.
Rider Hours Performance Tracking: Own tracking of rider hours performance, partnering with teams across acquisition, conversion, activation, and retention to understand the forecast and actuals behind their initiatives.
Causal Attribution: Partner with Data Science to attribute causality to individual initiatives’ contribution to rider hours, building a robust and defensible measurement framework.
Senior Stakeholder Reporting: Ensure rider hours performance and initiative impact are reported accurately and clearly to senior stakeholders on a regular cadence.
Weekly Applicant Target Setting: Own the weekly rider applicant target-setting process, ensuring targets reflect the latest view of demand, funnel performance, and onboarding capacity.
Annual Planning: Lead applicant target setting within the annual planning cycle, working with Science and local Regional Operations teams to work back from onboard targets to applicant targets.
Scenario Planning & Cost Efficiency: Run scenario planning with the Rider Marketing team to stress-test target and budget assumptions and identify opportunities to drive down cost per applicant.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Build strong working relationships across Science, Regional Operations, Retention & Resurrection, and Rider Marketing to keep incentive, performance, and target-setting decisions aligned.
Requirements
Experience in Operations, Strategy & Operations, or Growth/Performance Marketing, ideally within a high-growth marketplace or on-demand business.
Proven experience owning incentive programmes or performance-based spend, including budget management and ROI measurement.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with experience in forecasting, target setting, and/or causal measurement.
Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as Data Science, Regional Operations, and Marketing to align on targets and reporting.
Comfortable presenting performance data and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Experience with annual planning processes and target cascades is a plus.
