The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Procurement & Procure-to-Pay to lead how Flexport buys and pays for corporate indirect and warehouse goods and services. You’ll run daily procure-to-pay operations and build the procurement processes that help us negotiate better agreements, manage renewals, and control costs.

You’ll lead a team of approximately five to ten people and work closely with Finance, Legal, and business leaders. Expect to negotiate with vendors, solve operational problems, and use AI and automation to improve how the team works.

We’re looking for someone with strong judgment, a record of results, and the ability to learn quickly. You may have developed those strengths in procurement, finance, operations, consulting, or another demanding role.

You Will

Lead and develop the team: set priorities, coach team members, and uphold high standards for accuracy and service.

Build clear purchasing and approval processes for corporate indirect and warehouse spend. Make it easy for business teams to understand who owns each step and where to take an issue.

Lead vendor negotiations with business owners, using spend data and commercial alternatives to improve pricing and terms.

Maintain a clear view of contracts, commitments, and renewal dates. Work with Legal and business owners to address risks and negotiate before deadlines limit our options.

Own purchasing approvals, invoice processing, exception resolution, and payments, working with Accounting and Treasury.

Maintain reliable records and controls, including approval authority, separation of duties, and checks against duplicate or incorrect payments.

Work with budget owners to challenge unnecessary spending and track realized savings with Finance.

Track savings, renewal readiness, invoice accuracy, processing times, and timely payments. Fix the causes of recurring problems.

Build and test AI-assisted workflows for spend analysis, contract review, and invoice exceptions. Work with Finance Systems and technical teams to implement them, train the team, and measure improvements without weakening payment controls.

Success in Your First Year

Business teams follow a clear purchasing process, and key vendors, contracts, renewals, and approvals are easy to track.

Negotiations and renewals produce measurable savings confirmed by Finance and better commercial terms.

Invoices and payments are more accurate and timely, with fewer recurring exceptions and consistent controls.

The team has clear responsibilities, stronger skills, and AI workflows that demonstrably reduce manual work.

You Should Have

A record of strong results and increasing responsibility in procurement, finance, operations, consulting, or a related field.

Experience leading and developing people, setting expectations, and addressing performance issues.

Strong commercial judgment: you can negotiate, weigh tradeoffs, and influence people with competing priorities.

The ability to analyze spending and financial data in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools and turn your findings into clear recommendations.

An understanding of financial controls and how purchasing, invoices, and payments fit together, with the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.

Experience taking an unclear problem, building a workable process, and getting people to use it.

Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and curiosity about better ways to work.

Hands-on experience using generative AI to analyze information or improve a recurring workflow. You can explain what you built, how you tested it, and what improved.

Sound judgment about AI: you check results against source data, recognize unreliable outputs, protect confidential information, and know when human review is needed.

Experience with indirect procurement, finance systems, or procure-to-pay operations is helpful. We care about what you’ve accomplished and your ability to handle this scope, even if you haven’t held this exact title.
