The Practical Detail
Location: Hybrid | Remote
Why this role matters
In your first year, you will deliver an ambitious growth plan for Flora Food Group's largest customer, Bidfood, driving both sales and margin across the full P&L. This role is critical to strengthening Flora's position in the food service market by embedding a joint business plan that aligns Flora's brand priorities with Bidfood's commercial strategy. You will shape how our brands are listed, promoted, and grow within a key account that influences menus and food trends across the UK. Your work will directly impact the availability and innovation of better food in kitchens nationwide.
What you'll do
Own the Bidfood P&L, managing pricing, promotions, trade spend, and trade promotion management accruals to achieve sales and margin growth.
Lead the joint business plan and negotiate annual trading terms to ensure Flora's brands are well positioned and invested in.
Build and maintain relationships across all levels of Bidfood, from senior buyers to depot and logistics teams, to improve service and unlock commercial opportunities.
Deliver new product development and innovation launches on time and at the right price, collaborating closely with culinary and new business teams.
Champion the push-pull strategy by engaging Bidfood's end users—contract caterers, pubs, hotels, restaurants and Quick Serve Restaurants (QSR) — to grow brand presence and volume.
Performance
You will own the full P&L for the Bidfood account, driving measurable growth in sales and margin while managing trade spend within budget. Your leadership of the joint business plan will ensure alignment between Flora's brand ambitions and Bidfood's commercial goals. Success will be seen in improved brand listings, timely innovation launches, and strong trading terms that support sustainable growth.
Care
You will report directly to Helen Scott and collaborate with internal teams including new business, culinary, supply chain, and demand planning to ensure seamless service delivery. Externally, you will engage with multiple Bidfood functions such as buying, logistics, marketing, and category teams. Your decisions will balance commercial ambition with operational integrity, supporting a lean team environment during a period of organisational change.
Passion
Bidfood is at the heart of food service trends, where culinary culture is shaped. You will connect Flora's innovation pipeline directly to the chefs and kitchens that bring our products to life. Your role will influence how plant-based, indulgent, and culinary food categories evolve in the out-of-home market. Your curiosity about taste, nutrition, and functionality will drive meaningful innovation and brand growth.
About you
You'll bring solid food service experience, ideally managing Bidfood, Brakes, or Booker accounts, with a deep understanding of this route to market. You are commercially rigorous, confident in owning a P&L, and skilled at negotiating assertively while maintaining productive relationships. You sell on brand value, not price, and thrive in a fast-changing, lean environment. Your resilience and solution-oriented mindset help you navigate complex commercial and cultural challenges. You are genuinely interested in food culture and curious about how consumer behaviour and future food trends shape innovation. You understand that strong brands are built by anticipating what's next in taste, nutrition, and functionality, and by translating insight into meaningful consumer experiences.
Where this could lead to
This role typically leads to broader commercial leadership opportunities within Flora Food Group, including potential European roles as the business integrates into a larger unit. There is also scope to move into retail or new business functions. With success, you may take on direct reports and progress into senior management positions within 2 to 3 years.
What's next
If this opportunity sounds exciting, we'd love to hear from you.
