What the posting says

About Apaleo and the role

Apaleo is hiring a senior Product Manager to own one product crew end to end, with real autonomy over what gets built and why.

At Apaleo, we're building the open, API-first property management platform for hospitality. With integrations across hundreds of apps through the Apaleo Store, we simplify operations, elevate the guest journey and drive revenue growth for our customers.

Your crew covers the daily workflows every hotel on Apaleo relies on: reservations and groups, guest and company profiles, front desk operations, folios and charges, finance and accounting, and reporting. You'll own the crew's strategy, discovery, prioritisation and delivery, working closely with Engineering and Design, and in step with the Product Manager who owns the wider product direction across crews.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You won't receive a roadmap and execute it. You'll shape it, using customer insight, data and sound reasoning, and you'll stay close to delivery, because shipping reliable improvements is still the core of the job. The role has no people management and covers a single crew.

What you'll be up to

Owning your crew's product strategy, roadmap, backlog and delivery within the agreed wider product direction, and measuring success by customer and operational outcomes rather than items shipped.

Running customer discovery: interviewing users, reaching out to customers, spotting patterns across them and studying how competitors and the wider market solve the same problem.

Writing clear specs, defining what done looks like and following through with impact analysis.

Reviewing and challenging designs against real business use cases, together with your Designer.

Working shoulder to shoulder with Engineering on technical trade-offs, dependencies, quality, reliability and maintainability, going deep on our API-first architecture.

Balancing roadmap initiatives with operational requests, bugs and technical debt, and saying no to good ideas that aren't great ones.

Defining success measures for your initiatives, then using customer feedback, product data and operational signals to judge impact and decide what comes next.

Communicating progress, risks and trade-offs clearly to Engineering, customer-facing teams and product peers.

Bringing your customers' needs, evidence and recommendations into wider product planning, and challenging existing assumptions where the evidence supports it.

Spotting dependencies with neighbouring crews and product areas early, and resolving them together so customers get coherent end-to-end workflows.

Using AI in your own PM work and championing AI-assisted engineering. Around 90% of our team's code is already written with tools like Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot.

What you'll bring

You have 5+ years as a Product Manager, including 3+ years owning a B2B or API-first product area, and you've run that area with limited day-to-day direction.

Required experience and competencies

Independent product ownership. You've owned a product area from problem discovery and prioritisation through to delivery and measuring outcomes. You can tell us which decisions were yours and what you chose not to do.

Customer centricity and sharp product judgement. You know how to run interviews, validate assumptions, bring in competitor and market insight, and turn patterns in customer pain points into clear opportunities. Customer centricity is central to this role.

Technical depth. You can go deep on API architecture with engineers, challenge their thinking constructively and turn technical constraints into product decisions.

Strong execution and prioritisation. You can turn a focused roadmap into an actionable backlog, balance competing demands and keep delivery moving whilst protecting quality and long-term value.

Platform thinking. You weigh individual customer needs against reusable capabilities, API consistency, integration requirements and the long-term evolution of a shared platform.

Clear stakeholder alignment. You bring Engineering, customer-facing teams and product peers together, manage cross-crew dependencies and communicate trade-offs and decisions with confidence.

An outcome mindset. You define meaningful success measures, write specs with a clear definition of done and use impact analysis to guide your next decisions.

Autonomy and adaptability. You take ownership, use sound judgement, raise risks early and adapt to changing priorities without needing detailed direction.

Nice to have

Direct ownership of a platform or API product with external consumers or integrations.

Experience with developer experience, third-party integrations or platform ecosystems.

Hospitality, PMS or hotel operations experience.

Experience in transactional or finance-adjacent domains such as bookings, payments, billing, invoicing or accounting, where data integrity, consistency and correctness matter.

Experience in a fast-moving startup or scale-up.

Comfort with AI-assisted engineering workflows and using AI in your own PM work.

Don't tick every box? A strong B2B SaaS Product Manager from another domain, with technical depth and a real discovery habit, can be a better fit than a hospitality specialist without them. We'd still love to hear from you.
