This system is complemented by the Building Operating System–developed in-house.</div><h2>About the role</h2> You will join the Machine Integration & Simulation team, building the software platform that powers our machines, robots, and manufacturing systems.  Teams at GROPYUS own what they build, including architecture, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop software that connects digital production workflows with physical manufacturing equipment and simulation environments.  While you will work closely with machines, robots, and industrial systems, your primary focus will be building reliable, maintainable, and observable software using modern engineering practices.  Our team is driving the evolution towards Software Defined Manufacturing, building systems that enable simulation, integration, orchestration, and operation of our production environment at scale. Rust is the primary language of the team.  Your area of responsibilities include: <ul> <li>Design, build, test, deploy, and operate software for machines, robots, and manufacturing systems </li> <li>Develop machine-near applications, integration services in Rust </li> <li>Build interfaces between production systems, simulation environments, and manufacturing equipment </li> <li>Own software throughout its lifecycle, from implementation to production support </li> <li>Apply modern engineering practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability </li> <li>Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve production systems </li> <li>Collaborate with software engineers, industrial engineers, and production teams to translate manufacturing requirements into robust software solutions </li> </ul> <h2>About you</h2> <h3>Must-have skills</h3> <ul> <li>5+ experience designing and building production systems in Rust </li> <li>Experience designing, deploying, and operating software in production environments </li> <li>Ability to work effectively with modern AI-enabled development tooling and continuously explore new ways to improve engineering productivity </li> <li>Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, APIs, and software architecture </li> <li>Experience with CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and release management </li> <li>Strong incident handling and problem-solving skills including on-call shift duty </li> <li>Ownership mindset and passion for building reliable and resilient systems </li> </ul> <h3>Nice-to-have skills</h3> <ul> <li>Experience with industrial robots (KUKA), manufacturing, or industrial systems </li> <li>Experience with IIoT, OPC UA, MQTT, or similar communication protocols </li> <li>Experience with simulation, digital twins in the automation context, or edge computing </li> <li>Linux and database fundamentals </li> <li>Experience with Kubernetes and Azure </li> <li>Experience working in environments where software downtime has a direct operational impact </li> </ul> <div> <div class="job"> </div> <h2>What We Offer </h2> <div class="job"> <ul> <li>An unlimited contract with 30 vacation days.  </li> <li>Flexible, hybrid work: You can work from home or come into the office on the schedule that works best for you.
