Senior Software Engineer, Simulation & Forecasting (all genders)

Salary: 62.300 - 68.400 € per year

Requirements:

We are looking for several years of experience designing and owning production software in Python; please show us one example.

We need quantitative modelling experience, including simulation (Monte Carlo, system dynamics or agent-based), probabilistic forecasting and uncertainty.

We need experience evaluating forecasts using proper scoring rules, calibration and backtesting.

We value the ability to turn model output into clear reports and charts.

We need comfort with LLM pipelines and directing AI coding agents: turning a vague goal into a precise work order and demonstrating a time you caught an agents code or tests being wrong.

Nice to have: Bayesian modelling (PyMC, Stan), decision analysis, forecasting tournaments or platforms, document generation (PDF, HTML), or domain knowledge in energy, industry or finance.

English is our working language; German is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities:

You will build the report layer, including report formats, evidence charts, digitally signed output and an assistant that answers questions about completed reports.

You will build an engine that creates world models from research results, including parameter ranges, cause-and-effect links and scenarios, and validates them against reference data.

You will add calibrated forecasts, with questions registered in advance, probability forecasts whose quality is measured (for example, with Brier scores), and comparisons with actual outcomes.

You will own parts of the codebase and lead the AI coding agents working on them by writing work orders, reviewing every pull request and deciding what merges.

You will specify and review much of the work done by AI coding agents and write the hardest parts yourself.

You will own your work once it is live, write tests for it and keep CI green. Done means tests pass, security scans are clean, documentation is updated and container images are signed.

We are Serinyx, building AI for high-stakes decisions on confidential data. Our decision-intelligence platform uses AI agents to break down difficult questions, research them with checked citations and debate findings under human review, producing verified, cited and signed reports. Our other product gives universities and research institutes an always-current, AI-built view of their research. Founded in Saarbrücken in 2026, we are building our engineering team. This role turns AI-generated research into actionable decisions and executable world-model simulations that test scenarios and forecast outcomes. Forecasts are scored against real outcomes. We work as one team with one backlog, and engineers work directly with our CTO, Dr Raja Naeem Akram. We use two-week cycles, with planning on day one, a demo on day ten and a short written retrospective. AI agents handle routine infrastructure, deployment and monitoring work under engineering review. We offer an early role with real product and code ownership, a modern stack of Python, FastAPI, Temporal, Kubernetes, React with TypeScript and AI models, hybrid work in Saarbrücken, and 30 days of annual holidays.
