What the posting says
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
At Anduril, our Battlespace Awareness Command and Control Software team specializes in solving complex, real-world problems through cutting-edge algorithms and intelligent software integrations. Operating in small, innovative teams, we push the boundaries of what's possible to deliver advanced technologies with mission-critical applications. Our commitment doesn't end with academic research or proof-of-concept experiments; we measure our success by the real-world impact of our deployed solutions. Inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's vision — "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" —
Our work involves cutting-edge algorithms and high-performance software for multi-target tracking, data fusion, battle management, autonomous robotic control, and mission planning. We are currently seeking a highly talented, seasoned technologist to join our mission and redefine the future of defense technology.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Broomfield, CO and Waltham, MA. The Battlespace Awareness team develops tactical sense- and decision-making software that provides advanced capabilities for Anduril's command and control (C2) products. This software must work with various combinations of compute hardware, connected sensor/effector hardware, and supporting software services. Proving that software is robust to variations in scenario, configuration, and mission set is a responsibility this team owns end-to-end.
In this senior role, you'll be hands-on across that whole pipeline — running our software through simulated scenarios, building performance analyses, red-teaming through scenario design, and creating the tooling so that engineers and customers understand system behavior — while also setting technical direction, raising the bar on engineering rigor, and mentoring less experienced engineers. This is a build-measure-analyze role for someone who has done it before at scale and can bring that judgment to a fast-moving team. If you like writing software that turns messy, real-world data into a clear answer, you'll have plenty to do.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design, run, and analyze scenarios. Exercise our software across simulated and real-world data sets, then build the Python analysis that turns the output into performance results people can act on.
Define and own the metrics strategy. Establish the measures of system success, instrument them, and track them as the system evolves to inform engineering decisions and product roadmap.
Lead customer demonstrations. Build and configure simulation scenarios to showcase system performance in customer-facing demos, and represent the team's technical judgment directly to customers.
Characterize and explain system behavior. Diagnose the behavior of individual system components and emergent behaviors that arise from interactions of multiple systems, at a depth that informs architectural decisions.
Build the tools. Develop new data analysis and observability tooling, often from a blank page, and drive automation of the system through CI/CD infrastructure.
Set direction across the seams. Partner with algorithm and software engineers to troubleshoot and optimize across the system, and mentor other engineers on integration and test best practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years of software engineering or software systems integration and test experience.
Degree in Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Strong Python skills for data parsing, analysis, and visualization
Ability to read and reason about C++ or Rust (writing it full-time is not required)
Demonstrated track record developing new data analysis and observability tools from the ground up
Deep exposure to kinematics modeling and simulation frameworks (AFSIM or comparable)
Skilled in statistical analysis techniques such as Monte Carlo techniques
Demonstrated experience developing CI/CD pipelines, metrics, and test fixtures for software evaluation at scale
Demonstrated experience applying engineering standards into engineering processes or requirements, and shaping those standards for a team
Proven experience leading collaboration across cross-functional teams
Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to developers, system leads, and customers, including in high-stakes or executive settings
Comfortable working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems, and helping others navigate the same
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Up to 25% travel to customer sites.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with Linux OS.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Past experience with DevOps
Familiarity with processes and constraints for real-time and safety-critical software.
Experience with state estimation, sensor management and Kalman filters.
Prior experience writing and testing Rust / C++ software.
Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
Prior leadership role in field exercises, test events, experimentation campaigns.
Previous experience in a defense, aerospace, or naval environment.
Experience with any of the following: robotics, autonomous systems, radar, optics, computer vision, wireless communication, software defined radios, networking, missile defense
We request transcripts as part of the early application process to understand your academic background and how your coursework supports the skills deemed critical for the role. Transcripts help us assess your technical and analytical abilities, complementing our interview process in which we also evaluate practical experience and cultural fit. If you choose not to share your transcripts, you will need to provide detailed information regarding your academic performance in relevant courses, including projects and coursework specifics, to ensure we evaluate your academic accomplishments properly. If you do provide academic transcripts, feel free to redact non-technical information (e.g., student ID, dates, non-technical coursework, etc.). Unofficial transcripts obtained online are acceptable for this assessment.
