What the posting says

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

As the Senior Tax Manager, you will be a strategic tax compliance expert within Snowflake’s finance organization, owning and driving all aspects of U.S. federal and state income tax compliance. You will report to the Senior Director, U.S. Tax, and partner closely with a peer Senior Tax Manager who leads the Global & U.S. income tax provision process, providing critical inputs, analytics, and direct support for the quarterly and annual ASC 740 process. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth, world-class technology company and make an immediate impact.

This is a hybrid role that can be based in either Menlo Park, CA or Dublin, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Own the end-to-end U.S. federal and state income tax return compliance process, including preparation, review, timely filing, extensions, and estimated tax calculations and payments

Coordinate and manage external service providers to ensure high-quality and efficient compliance deliverables

Develop and apply state income tax planning strategies to optimize effective tax rate and cash taxes across all required income, business and gross receipts tax filings

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in U.S. federal and state tax law; proactively assess and communicate compliance impact to leadership

Respond to and manage federal and state tax notices, audits, and examinations, coordinating with external advisors and internal stakeholders

Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance policies, procedures, and risk assessment frameworks

Act as key partner to the Global Provision Senior Tax Manager, providing direct support for the quarterly and annual ASC 740 calculations

Perform return-to-provision analysis, ensure accurate reconciliation of tax accounts, and support the global tax provision through coordination, data sharing, and review

Ensure all compliance and provision processes are documented, sustainable, and aligned with corporate governance and audit requirements

Research complex federal and state tax issues and prepare technical memoranda; support tax considerations related to corporate initiatives, business transactions, and M&A activity

Identify, develop, and implement opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate compliance processes, including leveraging internal AI tools

Build a trusted network of cross-functional business partners—including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and Human Resources—to ensure accurate and complete information flows for tax compliance and provision

Mentor and develop a Senior Tax Analyst

REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Tax, and/or Finance; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred

Experience with Big 4 firm and/or in-house corporate tax department with a minimum of 7 years of progressive supervisory experience

Minimum of 13 years of in-depth experience with U.S. federal and multi-state corporate income tax compliance, including hands-on expertise with complex multistate issues, tax controversy management, and ASC 740 for large multinational public companies

Demonstrated ability to develop a strong network of internal and external business partners

Proven ability to adapt to a complex, fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and highly demanding work environment

Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects and manages competing priorities with minimal supervision

Positive attitude, eager to learn, and willing to take on new challenges

Experience with Workday ERP a plus
