What the posting says

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

STARLINK PRODUCT GROWTH DIRECTOR (PRICING & MONETIZATION STRATEGY)

Starlink consumer growth depends on a clear monetization strategy: the right plans and prices, a sharp value proposition, and an honest read of whether we are on goal. This role owns three things: plan and pricing strategy, growth team reporting, and the growth metrics.

You will own plan and pricing strategy: how we structure product pricing and service plan pricing, the in-market value proposition, and willingness to pay. You will work with global go-to-market teams on performance goal setting and tracking, and you will model impact with financial planning and accounting before decisions go to market and after they are live.

You will own the growth metrics and the growth team’s reporting against them: how the overall growth team is doing toward goal, where the gaps are, and who needs to fix them, where, and by when. You will understand what each market needs, when it needs it, and what it will take to close the gap. You support the business operations of in-market GTM teams and serve as the central orchestrator between those teams and Growth Central, so in-market teams have what they need to be successful.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recommend and validate product pricing and service plan pricing structures; build the pre-launch impact model and the post-launch readout with financial planning and accounting

Partner with global go-to-market teams on value propositions, willingness to pay, and performance goal setting and tracking by market

Own the growth metrics and the growth scoreboard: report how the overall growth team is tracking to goal, name the gaps, and specify who owns the fix, in which market, and by when

Maintain a clear view of in-market needs (offer, price, capacity, program, tooling) and what it will take to close each gap; keep Growth Central and GTM on one set of numbers

Support the business operations of go-to-market teams in market: what they need from Growth Central, when they need it, and whether it actually landed

Serve as connective tissue between in-market GTM and Growth Central so commercial decisions, forecasts, and asks do not get lost between teams

Build the pricing and performance toolkit (models, trackers, decision memos) so recommendations can be reviewed, challenged, and shipped

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or STEM discipline

7+ years of experience in pricing, monetization, financial planning, strategy, growth analytics, or a related commercial role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

10+ years in pricing, monetization, FP&A, or commercial strategy for subscription, telecommunications, broadband, or consumer hardware-plus-service businesses

Direct experience setting or changing list price, plan architecture, or packaging, and living with the in-market result

Strong financial modeling and comfort partnering with FP&A and accounting on forecast, actuals, and margin

Experience setting performance goals with in-country GTM teams and running a recurring impact cadence (weekly/monthly scoreboard, gap-to-goal, owners)

Expertise in willingness-to-pay, competitive price architecture, and market-specific value propositions

Advanced Excel required; SQL or BI tools strongly preferred

Experience operating as a senior IC who can also stand up a small team

Experience supporting distributed go-to-market teams from a central growth or commercial function

Leadership presence in a fast-paced, high-scrutiny environment: clear recommendations, named tradeoffs, no buried assumptions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to travel as needed to support global go-to-market teams

Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
