About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

About the Role

The Sustainability & Community Impact team at DoorDash works across our global brands (DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo) to advance the company's approach to the issues that matter most to our business, our communities, and the world we operate in. We sit within the Public Policy function and work closely with other teams on a daily basis.

We're hiring a Strategy Lead, Sustainable Delivery to help shape our global approach to sustainable delivery and lead its execution. You’ll focus on initiatives that address the environmental impact of our platform and industry, such as alternative vehicles for couriers and sustainable packaging. You’ll dive into the details to understand our biggest opportunities and build programs to scale that meet the needs of couriers, local businesses, and customers.

You'll have visibility across a global company, real ownership from day one, and room to build and scale programs that make a difference.

What you'll be doing

Co-lead the global sustainable delivery strategy, setting priorities, ambition, and metrics for our work, and be accountable for it globally

Own key programs in the implementation of that strategy. This will include designing, building, operating, and scaling initiatives across regions, from early pilots through to scaled programs, including partnerships with cities and providers

Support local sustainability initiatives across markets by giving teams a shared framework, tools, and strategic guidance, so local efforts ladder up to the global strategy

Use data to prove the biggest opportunities, test ideas through experimentation, and measure and report on program progress.

Build strong relationships across Operations, Product, Merchant, Market, Policy, and Communications teams to drive strategic sustainability initiatives

Our humble expectations

At least five years of experience building and managing complex, operational, and cross-functional programs, including starting things from scratch, ideally in logistics, mobility, retail, or consumer tech

Knowledge of the environmental sector, including the policy and technology landscape for vehicle electrification, packaging, and circularity

An operator mindset: you turn high-level goals into actionable plans and enjoy getting into the detail. You make decisions with it and are at ease with measurement tools.

A strong cross-functional influencer and excellent communicator, who can align stakeholders while functioning as an individual contributor

Ease working as a co-lead with a US-based counterpart across time zones, and across several global markets

A principled, pragmatic view of sustainability: you focus on impact that is real, measurable, and defensible

Experience and knowledge

[5+] years in sustainability, strategy, operations, ideally in logistics, mobility, retail, or consumer tech. Needs some in-house experience, not only consulting.

Experience building and managing complex cross-functional programs from pilot to scale

Knowledge of environmental topics relevant to delivery, including vehicle electrification and packaging or circularity

Record of using data in sophisticated ways to make decisions

Skills and behaviors

Strong operator, comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch; energized by establishing structure where little exists

Strong cross-functional influencer: aligns teams across functions and regions without direct authority

Excellent communicator who can turn complex information into clear recommendations

Comfortable as a co-lead with a US counterpart, and as an IC

Pragmatic and principled, with a focus on defensible impact over optics

This person is expected to have a defend a point of view (while being open to others)

SQL or comfort with analytics tools

AI-pilled

Experience working across multiple European markets

Nice to haves (some of these may in fact be must-haves)

Experience with e-mobility, fleet electrification, or city and OEM partnerships

Experience with packaging, EPR, or reuse programs

Familiarity with Scope 3 or GHG accounting

Knowledge of EU regulation affecting delivery and packaging

Experience supporting or enabling local teams through a central function

Public-facing experience, such as panels and partner conversations

Experience negotiating deals with commercial partners

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.

Beware of recruitment scams: DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt will never ask you to pay money or share sensitive financial information during hiring — learn more about our legitimate recruiting process at Recruitment Scam Awareness - DoorDash .
