You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager to join our dynamic Finance team. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our financial framework, shaping accounting operations, and supporting key strategic initiatives as Grafana Labs scales globally.
The ideal candidate brings a deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting, thrives when tackling complex, high-judgment accounting areas, and possesses a proven track record of driving process improvements. If you excel at cross-functional collaboration and navigating fast-paced, high-growth environments, this role offers an exciting platform to make a lasting impact.
What You'll Be Doing:
Prepare and/or review financial statements, supporting work papers, and disclosure checklists to ensure GAAP-compliant, accurate financial reporting, and serve as a key point of contact for the external audit.
Own key quarterly and annual financial reporting controls, ensuring they operate effectively and evidence is complete; this is a core part of ensuring the integrity of Grafana’s financial statements.
Own the review of complex, judgment-heavy areas, including but not limited to commissions, as part of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring transactions are properly accounted for and well-supported.
Own technical accounting research on complex and non-recurring transactions, applying GAAP and authoritative literature to reach well-supported conclusions, and draft clear, well-documented memos.
Own the evaluation and adoption of new accounting standards, and the ongoing development and maintenance of Grafana’s accounting policies as the business evolves.
Proactively identify emerging areas of complexity in the close process and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, accurate resolution.
Partner cross-functionally to understand business transactions and clearly communicate accounting and equity-related issues to stakeholders.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
Big 4 experience (or similar technical accounting advisory background) and CPA certification (or equivalent) required.
Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including but not limited to ASC 230, ASC 260, ASC 350, ASC 606, ASC 718, and ASC 805.
Experience researching FASB Accounting Standards Codification and Big 4 interpretive guidance.
Experience supporting financial reporting controls and external audits.
Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, written and verbal.
Ability to lead projects collaboratively in a changing environment, work independently, and manage multiple priorities.
Attention to detail and sound judgment in a complex, fast-moving environment.
Bonus Points For:
Experience with Workiva, NetSuite, and Xactly (or similar commissions tool)
Proven track record of applying process automation or data analytics in technical accounting or financial reporting
Compensation & Rewards:
In the United States, the base compensation range for this role is $113,000 - $135,000.
